Pulsar Magnetospheres and Pulsar Death [PDF]

open access: possibleScience, 2006
Rotating neutron stars, or pulsars, slow down with time. New observations of an unusual intermittent pulsar provide direct evidence that this slowing is partially caused by outflow of plasma.

Pulsars and Pulsar Wind Nebulae

2019
When heavy stars have burned all their nuclear fuel, neutron degeneracy pressure is the last force able to halt their collapse into a black hole. The sudden stop of the free-fall collapse leads to a rebound of the infalling matter triggering an outward shock that blows up the star envelope and powers a Type II supernova.

The Pulsar Magnetosphere

Astrophysics and Space Science, 2000
Domains of the pulsar magnetosphere, both within and without the light-cylinder, are studied under varying provisional assumptions. Some of the qualitative features emerging should persist in the ultimate synthesis of a completely self-consistent model.
