Analysis of heat transfer in unlooped and looped pulsating heat pipes

International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2002
An advanced heat transfer model for both unlooped and looped Pulsating Heat Pipes (PHPs) with multiple liquid slugs and vapor plugs has been developed. The thin film evaporation and condensation models have been incorporated with the model to predict the behavior of vapor plugs and liquid slugs in the PHP.

Experimental investigation of pulsation behaviour and performance of pulsating heat pipe

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part A: Journal of Power and Energy, 2022
This paper focuses on the experimental study of a closed-loop pulsating heat pipe with water. The unsteady state experiment was conducted to understand the role of different evacuation pressure, variable heat input and filling ratio on the PHP behaviour.

Closed-loop pulsating heat pipe

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2001
Flow visualization was conducted for the closed-loop pulsating heat pipe (PHP) using a charge coupled device (CCD). It was observed that during the start-up period, the working fluid oscillates with large amplitude, however, at steady operating state, the working fluid circulates.

State of the Art on Pulsating Heat Pipes

ASME 2nd International Conference on Microchannels and Minichannels, 2004
In recent years, thermal management of microelectronics is becoming a major feasibility bottleneck and has shown the limitations and shortcomings of conventional solutions. Market expetations are posing a simultaneous challenge of increased power levels coupled with high heat fluxes.

Frequency Analysis on Pulsating Heat Pipe

ASME 2007 InterPACK Conference, Volume 1, 2007
The pulsating heat pipe should have one eigen frequency based on the temperature visualization of pulsating heat pipe. The preliminary model of pulsating heat pipe is established by the force balance between the driving force, the inertial force and the frictional force.

Parametric studies on pulsating heat pipe

International Journal of Numerical Methods for Heat & Fluid Flow, 2010
PurposeThe purpose of this paper is to present a numerical investigation on pulsating heat pipe (PHP) to study the slug velocities as a function of various parameters.Design/methodology/approachThe governing equation of PHP is solved using explicit embedded Runge‐Kutta method, the Dormand–Prince pair in conjunction with MATLAB with the nomenclature 45 ...
