Pulsations and Hydrodynamics of Luminous Blue Variable Stars [PDF]
The Luminous Blue Variable stars exhibit behavior ranging from light curve `microvariations' on timescales of tens of days, to `outbursts' accompanied by mass loss of up to 10e-03 solar masses per year, occurring decades apart, to `giant eruptions' such as seen in Eta Carinae ejecting one or more solar masses and recurring on timescales of centuries ...

An Observer's View on the Future of Asteroseismology
Scientific research is a continuous process, and the speed of future progress can be estimated by the pace of finding explanations for previous research questions. In this observer's based view of stellar pulsation and asteroseismology, we start with the

Uncorrelated Amplitude and Frequency Variations of the Harmonics in SX Phoenicis Star XX Cygni
Harmonics are quite common in pulsating stars. They are always considered to mimic the behaviors of their independent parent pulsation modes, and are not taken for key information in asteroseismology.

Chaotic Pulsations in Variable Stars with Harmonic Mode Coupling [PDF]
Some variable stars show multi-periodic behaviour with, among others, peaks in their power spectra at harmonically spaced frequencies with ratios 1:2:4. Such modes are nonlinearly coupled by two second-harmonic interactions and their amplitude equations are shown by a Painlevé analysis to be nonintegrable in a hamiltonian sense.

HISTOGRAMS OF PERIODS DISTRIBUTION AND MODE IDENTIFICATIONS OF RRc LYR STARS
On the base of GCVS (General Catalogue of Variable Stars) sampling (381 stars with the known periods) has been carried out the analysis of periods of RRc Lyr stars.

Pulsating stars in ω Centauri. Near-IR properties and period-luminosity relations
ω Centauri (NGC 5139) contains many variable stars of different types, including the pulsating type II Cepheids, RR Lyrae and SX Phoenicis stars. We carried out a deep, wide-field, near-infrared (IR) variability survey of ω Cen, using the VISTA telescope.

A Rapidly Evolving High-amplitude δ Scuti Star Crossing the Hertzsprung Gap
In this work, we report the discovery of the rapidly evolving high-amplitude δ Scuti star KIC 6382916 (J19480292+4146558), which is crossing the Hertzsprung gap.

White-Dwarf Asteroseismology With the Kepler Space Telescope
In the course of their evolution, white-dwarf stars go through at least one phase of variability in which the global pulsations they undergo allow astronomers to peer into their interiors, making it possible to shed light on their deep inner structure ...

”ASYMPTOTIC PARABOLA” FITS FOR SMOOTHING GENERALLY ASYMMETRIC LIGHT CURVES
A computer program is introduced, which allows to determine statistically optimal approximation using the "Asymptotic Parabola" fit, or, in other words, the spline consisting of polynomials of order 1,2,1, or two lines ("asymptotes") connected with a ...

RR Lyrae Stars and Anomalous Cepheids as Population Tracers in Local Group Galaxies
We discuss the use and importance of pulsating variable stars as population tracers in Local Group galaxies. Among bright variable crossing the classical instability strip, we mostly focus on RR Lyrae stars and Anomalous Cepheids.
