Construction of adaptive pulse coupled neural network for abnormality detection in medical images

open access: yesApplied Artificial Intelligence, 2018
In this article, we propose a customized pulse coupled neural network for image segmentation to detect the different classes of skin lesions by minimizing the number of pixels as image harmonics.

Towards Accurate Skin Lesion Classification across All Skin Categories Using a PCNN Fusion-Based Data Augmentation Approach

open access: yesComputers, 2022
Deep learning models yield remarkable results in skin lesions analysis. However, these models require considerable amounts of data, while accessibility to the images with annotated skin lesions is often limited, and the classes are often imbalanced. Data

Underground image denoising method based on improved simplified pulse coupled neural network

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2014
In order to solve problems of traditional image denoising methods such as image blur, edge information loss and so on, an image denoising method based on improved simplified pulse coupled neural network was proposed according to characteristics of ...

Pulse Coupled Neural Network based Near-Duplicate Detection of Images (PCNN - NDD)

open access: yesAdvances in Electrical and Computer Engineering, 2018
Near Duplicate images are variants of original image with some transformations / manipulations / forgeries in it. The illegal copies of images are identified to protect copyright enforcement and reduce redundancy. The existing works in ND detection are

Collective chaos in pulse-coupled neural networks [PDF]

open access: yesEPL (Europhysics Letters), 2010
We study the dynamics of two symmetrically coupled populations of identical leaky integrate-and-fire neurons characterized by an excitatory coupling. Upon varying the coupling strength, we find symmetry-breaking transitions that lead to the onset of various chimera states as well as to a new regime, where the two populations are characterized by a ...

Complex networks: when random walk dynamics equals synchronization

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2012
Synchrony prevalently emerges from the interactions of coupled dynamical units. For simple systems such as networks of phase oscillators, the asymptotic synchronization process is assumed to be equivalent to a Markov process that models standard ...

Natural Frequencies of Levodopa‐Induced Dyskinesia in Parkinson's Disease

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objectives Abnormal involuntary movements, known as dyskinesias, are common complications of levodopa treatment in patients with Parkinson's disease and can significantly impair quality of life. The underlying pathophysiology remains unclear, and current therapeutic options are limited.

Current Status and Challenges in Data Collection for Aerospace Coatings Deposited by Plasma Spraying

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
An innovative approach has been integrated into the GRENAT project to optimize plasma spraying and coating performance. Raw materials are accelerated and melted in the plasma generated by torches, creating coatings. Monitoring sensors collect process data which are combined with ex situ characterization data.
