Variation of radial pulse wave contour influenced by contact pressure
2014 36th Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2014In this paper, the radial pulse waveforms of the same subjects under various contact pressures were measured. Then, the feature points of the pulse wave contours were extracted and the physical parameters were calculated corresponding to different contact pressures.

Pulse pressure variation estimation using a sequential monte carlo method
2009 Annual International Conference of the IEEE Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society, 2009We describe a novel automatic algorithm to continuously estimate the pulse pressure variation (PPV) index from arterial blood pressure (ABP) signals. The algorithm utilizes our recently developed sequential Monte Carlo method (SMCM) based on a maximum A-Posterior adaptive marginalized particle filter (MAM-PF).

Meaning of Pulse Pressure Variation during ARDS
2011Fluid management is a crucial issue during acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). On the one hand, fluid administration is important to reverse adverse hemodynamic effects of mechanical ventilation with positive end-expiratory pressure (PEEP) or to restore adequate cardiovascular conditions in case of associated sepsis.

Influence of Pressure Control Levels on the Pulse Pressure Variations
Shock, 2011Pulse pressure variation (PPV) is a promising predictor for volume responsiveness. However, recent studies have criticized its validity during small tidal volume (TV) ventilation. The present study evaluated the influence of pressure control level (PCL) on PPV.

Pulse and Systolic Pressure Variation Assessment in Partially Assisted Ventilatory Support
Journal of Clinical Monitoring and Computing, 2008The use of pulse pressure variation (PPV) and systolic pressure variation (SPV) is possible during controlled ventilation (MV). Even in acute respiratory failure, controlled MV tends to be replaced by assisted ventilatory support. We tested if PPV and SPV during flow triggered synchronized intermittent mechanical ventilation (SIMV) could be as accurate

CSF Pressure-Volume Relation and Pulse Related CSF Pressure Variations in Man
1980The intracranial volume/pressure (V/P) relationship (1,2,4,5,6) has been studied by many investigators. Most experiments have been made on animals and very little is known about the quantitative aspects in man. The present paper deals mainly with the reference values for the different V/P variables and the deviations from normal found in some ...
