Measurement of pulse transit time using ultra-wideband radar. [PDF]

open access: yesTechnol Health Care, 2021
BACKGROUND: The pulse transit time is an important factor that can be used to estimate the blood pressure indirectly. In many studies, pressures in the artery near and far from the heart are measured or the electrocardiogram and photoplethysmography are used to calculate the pulse transit time.

Comparison of noninvasive pulse transit time estimates as markers of blood pressure using invasive pulse transit time measurements as a reference. [PDF]

open access: yesPhysiol Rep, 2016
Pulse transit time (PTT) measured as the time delay between invasive proximal and distal blood pressure (BP) or flow waveforms (invasive PTT [I-PTT]) tightly correlates with BP PTT estimated as the time delay between noninvasive proximal and distal arterial waveforms could therefore permit cuff-less BP monitoring. A popular noninvasive PTT estimate for

A review of machine learning techniques in photoplethysmography for the non-invasive cuff-less measurement of blood pressure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Hypertension or high blood pressure is a leading cause of death throughout the world and a critical factor for increasing the risk of serious diseases, including cardiovascular diseases such as stroke and heart failure.

Pulse transit time: Relationship to blood pressure [PDF]

open access: yesBehavior Research Methods & Instrumentation, 1978
The relationships between pulse transit time (PTT) and both systolic (SBP) and diastolic blood pressure (DBP) were evaluated in 114 human subjects during rest and stress. PTT was found to covary quite consistently with SBP, but not with DBP, when blood pressure was measured both noninvasively and invasively.

Development of tubular cardiovascular phantom system for pulse transit time simulation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This paper presents on the development of a tubular cardiovascular phantom system to simulate pulse transit time (PTT). The PTT defined as the delay time between two pulses in one cardiac cycle has been shown to be promising method for cuffless ...

Pulse transit time differential measurement by fiber Bragg grating pulse recorder

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Optics, 2015
The present study reports a noninvasive technique for the measurement of the pulse transit time differential (PTTD) from the pulse pressure waveforms obtained at the carotid artery and radial artery using fiber Bragg grating pulse recorders (FBGPR). PTTD is defined as the time difference between the arrivals of a pulse pressure waveform at the carotid ...

Pulse transit time: an appraisal of potential clinical applications [PDF]

open access: yesThorax, 1999
Current techniques for investigating patients with suspected sleep disordered breathing are inadequate. Not only are many of the tests expensive, but they are also cumbersome and many centres require these investigations to be performed in the sleep laboratory. At the heart of the problem is the difficulty in identifying and quantifying the spectrum of

Transient dynamics of molecular devices under step-like pulse bias [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
We report first principles investigation of time-dependent current of molecular devices under a step-like pulse. Our results show that although the switch-on time of the molecular device is comparable to the transit time, much longer time is needed to ...

Effects of Enflurane on Pulse Transit Time

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2004
Background: In Anesthetic state, many hemodynamic parameters including blood pressure, heart rate and arterial compliance are changed. Moreover pulse transit time (PTT) is influenced by heart rate, blood pressure changes, and the compliance of the arteries. Methods: In this study, we investigated PTT changes in patients under enflurane anesthesia.
