A System for Monitoring the Radial Pulse: Application to Pulse Transit Time Measurement

Psychophysiology, 1984
ABSTRACTA transducer and circuit for continuous monitoring of the radial pulse are described. The wrist transducer is small, robust and easily constructed. The system responds mechanically to surface movement caused by the arterial pulse, and converts the motion photoelectrically to a signal suitable for AC amplification and input to a chart recorder ...

Continuous blood pressure measurement using pulse transit time

Somnologie - Schlafforschung und Schlafmedizin, 2013
Measurement of blood pressure (BP) during sleep is gaining in importance for clinical and scientific reasons. Diagnosis and follow-up of arterial hypertension requires BP measurement during sleep. Further, continuous BP measurements are necessary to elucidate the pathogenesis of sleep disturbances (e.g., sleep apnea), which are related to arterial ...

Frequency-dependent variability of pulse wave transit time. Pilot study

Доклады Российской академии наук. Науки о жизни
The dynamics of the pulse wave (PW) associated with the PW transit time variability (PWTTV) determines the peripheral pulse rate variability, which is used as a surrogate for heart rate variability (HRV). The aim of the work is to analyze the frequency-dependent dynamics of PWTTV and to identify the possible frequency-phase modulation of PW velocity ...

A fast variable transition time pulse generating circuit

[1992] Conference Record IEEE Instrumentation and Measurement Technology Conference, 2003
A pulse generating circuit has been developed which extends the flexibility of high-speed pulse generators by offering variable transition times from 300 ps up to 1 ns. This is in addition to being able to operate with pulse repetition rates from DC up to 500 MHz and with amplitudes up to 5 V into 50 Omega .

Measurement of pulse transit time using AT90S8535 microcontroller

Measurement, 2006
The long patient waiting list for sleep breathing disorders investigation in sleep laboratories has made ambulatory monitoring more popular. Pulse transit time (PTT) has shown its potentials in respiratory studies. Currently, PTT can only be performed with complex acquisition systems in tertiary centres.

Pulse transit time estimation from anacrotic photoplethysmography waveforms

2017 International Conference on Robotics, Automation and Sciences (ICORAS), 2017
Pulse transit time (PTT) is a useful marker that has been used by many researchers to indirectly estimate cardiovascular parameters. Photoplethysmogram (PPG) is one of the most common waveforms used for the estimation of PTT. In this paper, we propose a new method to estimate the PTT from the anacrotic phase of the PPG signal using autoregressive with ...

Arterial Pulse Transit Time Dependence on Applied Pressure

2010
Arterial pulse transit time dependence on applied pressure is analyzed experimentally. The pressure was applied on brachial artery. Pulse transit times between left and right hand were compared by calculating the correlation on different applied pressures. In addition the pulse transit time characteristics were analyzed on different pressures.

An Attempt to Define the Pulse Transit Time

2018
Pulse transit time (PTT) is promising for various clinical applications. This paper attempts to discuss different terminologies used for PTT and reveals the research discontinuity among different groups, with the aim to describe the definition of PTT and propose solutions to clarify the usage of PTT.

Measurement of Pulse Transit Time (PTT) Using Photoplethysmography

2017
An experimental setup for measuring pulse transit time (PTT) using two photoplethysmographic (PPG) signals is proposed. The pulse wave velocity is calculated from the measured PTT, for its potential use in monitoring arterial stiffness and continuous non-invasive arterial blood pressure.
