The thermal diffusivity of MgO‐C refractories is highly sensitive to sample preparation and processing procedures. In this article, the effects of coking sequence, machining conditions, structural inhomogeneity, and graphite coating application on measurements using laser flash apparatus are systematically investigated.

Turn-on speed of grounded gate NMOS ESD protection transistors [PDF]
The turn-on speed of nMOS transistors (nMOST) is of paramount importance for robust Charged Device Model (CDM) protection circuitry. In this paper the nMOST turn-on time has been measured for the first time in the sub-halve nanosecond range with a ...

It is shown that laser ablation pretreatment under oxygen‐free conditions enables copper–aluminium bonding at significantly lower deformation degrees and improved properties compared to mechanical brushing. Laser ablation further increases interface contact area and induces favourable residual stress states and microstructural compatibility ...

Do single photons tunnel faster than light?
Experiments done in the early 1990's produced a surprising result: that single photons pass through a photonic tunnel barrier with a group velocity faster than the vacuum speed of light.

Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

True Airspeed Measurement by Ionization-Tracer Technique [PDF]
Ion bundles produced in a pulse-excited corona discharge are used as tracers with a radar-like pulse transit-time measuring instrument in order to provide a measurement of airspeed that is independent of all variables except time and distance.

Relationship between sleep stage and pulse transit time.
In order to analyze the autonomic functioning during sleep, all night polygraphic measurement including the pulse transit time (PTT) was carried out with healthy subjects under sleep deprived and natural sleep condition. Sleep stages were classified based on the EEG recordings.

Carbon nanomaterial‐reinforced epoxy composites exhibit pronounced piezoresistive behavior, enabling intrinsic damage sensing under cyclic and fatigue loading. This review critically compares carbon nanotube and graphene systems, correlating filler content, percolation threshold, and gauge factor with sensing stability and damage evolution.

Kinetic effects in strong Langmuir turbulence
Kinetic effects with regard to a one dimensional Langmuir soliton-like pulse are investigated. Though thus far mainly transit-time accelerations have been investigated regarding strong Langmuir turbulence, it is found that ponderomotive reflections ...
