Blood Pressure Estimation using Photoplethysmography only: Comparison between Different Machine Learning Approaches [PDF]
Introduction: Blood pressure (BP) has been a potential risk factor for cardiovascular diseases. BP measurement is one of the useful parameters for early diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cardiovascular diseases.

Analysis of the thermal conditions of pulse impact avalanche transit-time diodes [PDF]
The nonstationary problem of the thermal process for the pulse mode of impact avalanche transit-time diodes is solved. The one-dimensional thermal model of such diodes, which takes into account the heterogeneity of the thermal power distribution and the ...

Effects of acute sympathetic activation on eye temperature using infrared thermography [PDF]
Using physiological markers to measure sympathetic activation can be used to infer pain and stress in humans. To date, the only methods in humans that reproducibly do this are invasive and poses an undesired risk to participants. Previous work on cattle (

Midsagittal Jaw Movement Analysis for the Scoring of Sleep Apneas and Hypopneas [PDF]
Given the importance of the detection and classification of sleep apneas and hypopneas (SAHs) in the diagnosis and the characterization of the SAH syndrome, there is a need for a reliable noninvasive technique measuring respiratory effort.

P129 SHORT-TERM REPEATABILITY OF NON-INVASIVE AORTIC PULSE WAVE VELOCITY MEASURES
Objective: To compare the short-term repeatability of aortic pulse wave velocity (PWV) measures obtained with non-invasive devices. Methods: In 102 patients planned to undertake a cardiac catheterization (65±13 years, 70.6% males) duplicate non-invasive

Assessing cardiac preload by the Initial Systolic Time Interval obtained from impedance cardiography
The Initial Systolic Time Interval (ISTI), obtained from the electrocardiogram (ECG) and impedance cardiogram (ICG), is considered to be a measure for the time delay between the electrical and mechanical activity of the heart and reflects an early active

PTT and systolic blood pressure were measured 20 times at rest and 10 times with Valsalva's Maneuvre from each of five subjects. Linear correlation coefficients (LCs) were calculated from the data obtained only at rest and from both measuring conditions combined. The results showed that LCs from the combined data were highly negative (--0.428-- --0.854)
