Co-designing cryogenic system with pulse tube cryocooler and loop heat pipe for infrared energy management

Applied Thermal Engineering, 2021
Abstract Cryogenic system is important for the infrared detectors, which can increase the ratio of signal-to-noise at low temperature. Long lifetime, high efficiency mechanical cryocoolers and two-phase heat pipes can reduce the energy consumption of the spacecraft and ensure a low weight.

Theoretical and experimental investigations on the three-stage Stirling-type pulse tube cryocooler using cryogenic phase-shifting approach and mixed regenerator matrices

Cryogenics, 2018
Abstract Theoretical analyses and experimental verification for a three-stage Stirling-type pulse tube cryocooler (SPTC) expected to operate at 5–12 K are conducted. Cryogenic phase-shifting and mixed regenerator matrices are employed to improve the performance at the third stage.

A high efficiency hybrid stirling-pulse tube cryocooler

open access: yesAIP Advances, 2015
This article presented a hybrid cryocooler which combines the room temperature displacers and the pulse tube in one system. Compared with a traditional pulse tube cryocooler, the system uses the rod-less ambient displacer to recover the expansion work ...

Effects of DC flow on a cryogen-free Vuilleumier type pulse tube cryocooler

International Journal of Refrigeration, 2020
Abstract DC flow may exist in a pulse tube cryocooler if a closed loop is formed by double inlet, etc. It has been found that, given the right amount and the right direction, DC flow may be favorable to the cooling performance of a PTC working at liquid hydrogen temperature and liquid helium temperature with Stirling type or G-M type PTC.
