Simulation of pulse width modulated (PWM) chopper drives using z-transformation

MELECON '98. 9th Mediterranean Electrotechnical Conference. Proceedings (Cat. No.98CH36056), 2002
In this paper, a class-C chopper circuit is modeled using z-transformation including the time variation of the pulsewidth modulated (PWM) signal. A closed-loop speed control system using a direct current (DC) motor fed by the chopper is then simulated.

A New Switching Strategy for Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Power Converters

IEEE Transactions on Industrial Electronics, 2007
This paper presents a new switching strategy for pulse width modulation (PWM) power converters. Since the proposed strategy uses independent on/off switching action of the upper or lower arm according to the polarity of the current, the dead time is not needed except instant of current polarity change.

Energy Regenerative Damper Using Pulse Width Modulated (PWM) Step-up Chopper

Volume 6: International Symposium on Motion and Vibration Control, 1999
Abstract This paper describes a new technique of improving the efficiency of an energy regenerative damper. It is intended for an electro-dynamic type vibration damper to regenerate vibration energy efficiently. Normally regenerative damper can regenerate vibration energy only at high speed motion.

Position Control of Hydraulic Actuators Using Fuzzy Pulse Width Modulation (PWM)

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
Hydraulic actuators are widely employed for industrial automation for its high power over weight ratio, functionality in tough operating conditions and low cost. However, the dynamics of hydraulic systems are non-linear and the system subjected to non-smooth and discontinuous non-linearities due to directional change of valve opening, friction, valve ...

The effect of pulse width modulation (PWM) frequency on the reliability of thermoelectric modules

Eighteenth International Conference on Thermoelectrics. Proceedings, ICT'99 (Cat. No.99TH8407), 2003
Pulse-width-modulation (PWM) control has many benefits when used to control power to thermoelectric modules (TEM's). This scheme allows the use of smaller, lighter circuitry that dissipates less heat than a comparable linear controller. However, abruptly turning power on and off to a TEM has been known to cause thermal cycling which reduces the ...

Neo-Transmitter Using Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Method for Wireless Smart Sensors

IEEJ Transactions on Sensors and Micromachines, 2008
The wireless smart sensors have been proposed not only for high-risk and chronically ill patients but also in the healthcare field. The radio frequency (RF) transmitter is necessary to fabricate wireless smart sensors. This paper presents a proposal of the complementary metal-oxide-semiconductor (CMOS) RF transmitter using pulse width modulation (PWM ...

Pulse width modulation (PWM) method for power components estimation in power meters

WIT Transactions on Information and Communication Technologies, 2014
The scope of this paper is to present the Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) based method for Active Power (AP) and Reactive Power (RP) measurements as can be applied in Power Meters. Necessarily, the main aim of the material presented is a twofold, first to present a realization methodology of the proposed algorithm, and second to verify the algorithm’s ...

Research for PWM rectifier based on voltage space-vector Pulse-Width Modulation

2007 International Conference on Electrical Machines and Systems (ICEMS), 2007
Based on the operating principle of PWM (pulse-width modulation) rectifier, aiming at the major factors which influence the power factor of rectifier, switching frequency and its losses, an improved traditional method of SVPWM (space-vector pulse-width modulation) has been proposed by applying the SVPWM technology.

Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) Method for Power Components Estimation - Active and Reactive Power Measurement

2013 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics, 2013
This paper presents a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) based method for Active Power (AP) and Reactive Power (RP) measurements in electric sinusoidal and Non-sinusoidal power systems. The method takes advantage of the fact that frequencies present in a power line are of a specific fundamental frequency range (a range centred around the 50Hz or 60Hz) and ...

Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) and Pulse Amplitude Modulation (PAM) Technique for Medium-Speed BLDCM in Electric Vehicle Application

2018 International Seminar on Application for Technology of Information and Communication, 2018
High torque and high efficiency are two factors used as a consideration of why many electric vehicles (EV) use brushless DC motor (BLDCM) as a propulsion system. Likewise, Amtenar car -a PENS's electric car- use this kind of motor as its propulsion. BLDCM can be driven by two techniques.
