Coherent Neutral Current Neutrino-Nucleus Scattering at a Spallation Source; a Valuable Experimental Probe

open access: yes, 2009
The coherent contribution of all neutrons in neutrino nucleus scattering due to the neutral current is examined considering the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) as a source of neutrinos.

Pulse Current Auxiliary Sintering

open access: yes, 2013
Pulse current auxiliary sintering (PCAS) originated from electric current auxiliary sintering technique (ECAS), whose history can be traced back to the year of 1922, when an American did a path-breaking work to heat oxide powders by an electric current and synthesized a dense material.

Nuclear pore links Fob1‐dependent rDNA damage relocation to lifespan control

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Damaged rDNA accumulates at a specific perinuclear interface that couples nucleolar escape with nuclear envelope association. Nuclear pores at this site help inhibit Fob1‐induced rDNA instability. This spatial organization of damage handling supports a functional link between nuclear architecture, rDNA stability, and replicative lifespan in yeast.

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

The Pulsed Neutron Beam EDM Experiment

open access: yes, 2018
We report on the Beam EDM experiment, which aims to employ a pulsed cold neutron beam to search for an electric dipole moment instead of the established use of storable ultracold neutrons.

High current short pulse ion sources [PDF]

open access: yesAIP Conference Proceedings, 1997
High current short pulse ion beams can be generated by using a multicusp source. This is accomplished by switching the arc or the RF induction discharge on and off. An alternative approach is to maintain a continuous plasma discharge and extraction voltage but control the plasma flow into the extraction aperture by a combination of magnetic and ...

Visual Recovery Reflects Cortical MeCP2 Sensitivity in Rett Syndrome

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Rett syndrome (RTT) is a devastating neurodevelopmental disorder with developmental regression affecting motor, sensory, and cognitive functions. Sensory disruptions contribute to the complex behavioral and cognitive difficulties and represent an important target for therapeutic interventions.

Method and apparatus for sputtering utilizing an apertured electrode and a pulsed substrate bias [PDF]

open access: yes, 1973
The method and equipment used for sputtering by use of an apertured electrode and a pulsed substrate bias are discussed. The technique combines the advantages of ion plating with the versatility of a radio frequency sputtered source.

Prediction of Myasthenia Gravis Worsening: A Machine Learning Algorithm Using Wearables and Patient‐Reported Measures

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Myasthenia gravis (MG) is a rare disorder characterized by fluctuating muscle weakness with potential life‐threatening crises. Timely interventions may be delayed by limited access to care and fragmented documentation. Our objective was to develop predictive algorithms for MG deterioration using multimodal telemedicine data ...

Magnetic properties of Fe/Cu multilayers prepared using pulsed-current electrodeposition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
[Fe (tFe) nm/Cu (tCu) nm]N multilayer films were prepared using pulsed-current electrodeposition method. The role of the pulsed-current deposition and Fe and Cu layer thicknesses on the magnetic properties was investigated.
