Transient Eddy Current Analysis of Pulsed Eddy Current Testing by Finite Element Method

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2004
Transient eddy current analysis of pulsed eddy current testing was performed by time-stepping method and Fourier transform method. The characteristics of two methods were evaluated by using a simple model. The accuracy was examined by the comparison of calculated and measured data.

Poetry to Pulsed Eddy Currents

1999
Most papers are about method and results, building blocks in the temples of physics and engineering. And rightly so. But this paper is about process, the process of discovery and of creativity. It is about frustration, joy, commitment, determination, steadfastness, failure, and ultimately triumph.

Pulsed eddy current thermography for corrosion characterisation

International Journal of Applied Electromagnetics and Mechanics, 2012
Corrosion characterisation on metal substrates is a major problem in the field of corrosion science and Non-destructive Evaluation (NDE). In this work, the electromagnetic NDE method, Pulsed Eddy Current (PEC) Thermography, has been applied to evaluate the corrosion on the mild steel plates. By analysis of heat induction and heat diffusion, early stage

Local eddy current measurements in pulsed fields

Journal of Magnetism and Magnetic Materials, 2008
Abstract This work presents new eddy current measurements in pulsed fields. A commercial point pick-up coil is used to detect the induction signal along the radius of Cu and Al samples with cylindrical shape and diameters between 5 and 35 mm. Local eddy current measurements were performed on the surface of conducting materials due to the small ...

Massively Multiplexed Eddy Current Testing and its Comparison with Pulsed Eddy Current Testing

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2004
This compares the capabilities of the Pulsed Eddy Current technique with those of an Eddy Current instrument capable of multiplexing through 32 discrete frequencies. Pulsed Eddy Current testing has shown some definite advantages due to the application of an extended series of frequencies to a test piece and analysis using a time‐based display. The Eddy

Electromagnetic Enhancement of Pulsed Eddy Current Signals

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2007
The sensitivity of pulsed eddy current (PEC) testing is increased when a layer of magnetic material is placed on the far side of the conductive test piece. This procedure ensures preservation of the lift‐off point of intersection (LOI) feature, otherwise non‐existent for the PEC inspections of magnetic materials.

A novel eddy current compensation scheme for pulsed gradient systems

Magnetic Resonance in Medicine, 1994
AbstractWe describe a modified pre‐emphasis network that uses a number of fixed time constants, only whose amplitudes are adjustable. In comparison with variable time constant pre‐emphasis networks we have used, the fixed time constant network is more effective and easier to set on the fly.

Study of Lift-Off Invariance for Pulsed Eddy-Current Signals

IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, 2009
Lift-off invariance (LOI) is getting much attention from researchers in the field of electromagnetic nondestructive evaluation (ENDE) because, at the LOI point, eddy-current signals for different lift-offs intersect and the signal amplitude is independent of the lift-off variance.

Pulsed eddy current nondestructive testing

2003
There is an intensive research of pulsed eddy current as a new nondestruc-tive technique. Broadband nature of pulsed excitation potentially enables ex-traction of more information about tested object in a single measurement. Furthermore, lower power consumption of the measurement probe and shorter inspection time can be achieved comparing to the ...
