Frequency multiplexed photothermal correlation tomography for non-destructive evaluation of manufactured materials

open access: yesInternational Journal of Extreme Manufacturing
Infrared thermography has been widely applied in real industrial inspection of aerospace, energy management systems, engines, and electric systems. However, two-dimensional imaging modality limits its development.

Comparison of Cooled and Uncooled IR Sensors by Means of Signal-to-Noise Ratio for NDT Diagnostics of Aerospace Grade Composites

open access: yesSensors, 2020
This work aims to address the effectiveness and challenges of non-destructive testing (NDT) by active infrared thermography (IRT) for the inspection of aerospace-grade composite samples and seeks to compare uncooled and cooled thermal cameras using the ...

Early detection of thermal contrast in pulsed stimulated infrared thermography

open access: yesProceedings of the 1994 International Conference on Quantitative InfraRed Thermography, 1994
Pulsed stimulated infrared thermography is a .powerful technique for the detection of thermally resistive defects in materials. Time-resolved analysis of the surface temperature field can then be used for the identification of· the defect characteristics (mainly its depth, its lateral size and its thermal resistance).

Photothermal CO2 Hydrogenation: Reactions, Mechanisms, and Catalyst Design

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
Reactions, mechanisms, and catalyst design for photothermal CO2 hydrogenation. ABSTRACT Photothermal CO2 hydrogenation has attracted extensive attention because it provides a green and sustainable approach to fuel and chemicals production. The photothermal catalyst plays a critical role in CO2 conversion through a range of reactions.

Coupled Photocatalytic Hydrogen Production With Selective Biomass Valorization via Active Sites Construction and Electron Transport Channels Engineering

open access: yesCarbon Energy, EarlyView.
A ternary CdS/1T‐WS2/CNTs heterojunction is in‐situ constructed via hydrothermal method, which is used for photocatalytic biomass reforming (biomass‐derived alcohols, lignin). It exhibits outstanding performance: H2 production rate of 26.17 mmol/g/h for benzyl alcohol (BA), benzaldehyde (BD) generation rate of 8.29 mmol/g/h, 90.06% BD selectivity, 100%

Quantitative Nondestructive Evaluation of Carbon-Carbon Composites by Pulsed Infrared Thermography

open access: yesNDT & E International, 1993
The sample used in this study is a 200 mm square plate of c/c composite material representative of the material which will be used for the hottest structures of the Hermes shuttle. This 3 mm thick sample contains natural defects in the core material. The defects to be detected and characterized are voids with a very small thickness compared to their ...

Heat Load Mitigation Studies in the W7‐X Stellarator Experiment

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT During the experiments at the stellarator Wendelstein 7‐X (W7‐X) with fully water‐cooled plasma‐facing components (PFC), including carbon‐fiber composite (CFC) divertor targets with a thermal load capability of 10 MW/m2, high performance was achieved.

Active Infrared Thermography for Seal Contamination Detection in Heat-Sealed Food Packaging

open access: yesJournal of Imaging, 2016
Packaging protects food products from environmental influences, assuring quality and safety throughout shelf life if properly performed. Packaging quality depends on the quality of the packaging material and of the closure or seal.

Localized 3D acoustic streaming in microdroplets using high‐frequency micro‐beam IDTs

open access: yesDroplet, EarlyView.
Miniaturized 160 MHz acoustic microbeam transducers, with a size much smaller than droplets, enable precise localized actuation, generating complex three‐dimensional streaming and tunable particle aggregation. This concept provides high‐resolution, non‐contact fluid manipulation for biosensing, lab‐on‐chip diagnostics, and targeted drug screening ...

Transition Metal Compounds as Thermochromic Materials: Classification, Properties, Limitations, and Applications

open access: yesEcoEnergy, EarlyView.
This review systematically examines how different transition metal compounds—such as binary and multinary metal oxides, halides, sulfides, and salts—exhibit thermochromism based on the d‐electron configurations of their transition metal cations. It focuses on three main mechanisms of thermochromism: phase transition, charge transfer, and bandgap change.
