Programmable Hydration Pathways Enable Reconfigurable Ionic Thermoelectrics for Energy Harvesting and Thermal‐Tactile Interaction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Programmable hydration pathways enable reconfigurable ionic thermoelectrics in polyquaternium hydrogels. By coupling microscopic solvation, mesoscale water channels, and macroscopic boundary control, hydration‐gated protonics decouples thermopower, response speed, and stability.

Quantitative nondestructive evaluation of carbon-carbon composites by pulsed infrared thermography

open access: yesNDT & E International, 1996
The sample used in this study is a 200 mm square plate of c/c composite material representative of the material which will be used for the hottest structures of the Hermes shuttle. This 3 mm thick sample contains natural defects in the core material. The defects to be detected and characterized are voids with a very small thickness compared to their ...

Papier-Mâché Puppets’ Characterization by Infrared Imaging Techniques

open access: yesHeritage, 2022
Among the different forms of art, the puppet theatre constitutes a long-standing and often little-known tradition. The use of puppets as support for acting dates back to the Greek age, and it was mainly developed during the modern period.

Flexible Thin‐Film Heater Composed of Laser‐Induced Graphene and Poly(D, L‐Lactic Acid) with Electro‐ and Photo‐Thermal Properties toward Cancer Thermotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a thin‐film‐type heat‐generating device that uses laser induced graphene (LIG) on a poly(D, L‐lactic) acid film, which realizes both resistance heating by direct current application and photothermal conversion heating by near‐infrared light irradiation.

Deep Learning Approaches for Classifying Crack States With Overload and Predicting Fatigue Parameters in a Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes a deep learning approach to evaluate the fatigue crack behavior in metals under overload conditions. Using digital image correlation to capture the strain near crack tips, convolutional neural networks classify crack states as normal, overload, or recovery, and accurately predict fatigue parameters.

Early detection of thermal contrast in pulsed stimulated infrared thermography

open access: yesProceedings of the 1994 International Conference on Quantitative InfraRed Thermography, 1994
Pulsed stimulated infrared thermography is a .powerful technique for the detection of thermally resistive defects in materials. Time-resolved analysis of the surface temperature field can then be used for the identification of· the defect characteristics (mainly its depth, its lateral size and its thermal resistance).

Infrared Thermography for Weld Inspection: Feasibility and Application [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Traditional ultrasonic testing (UT) techniques have been widely used to detect surface and sub-surface defects of welds. UT inspection is a contact method which burdens the manufacturer by storing hot specimens for inspection when the material is cool ...
