A new pulsed laser deposition technique: Scanning multi-component pulsed laser deposition method
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2012The scanning multi-component pulsed laser deposition (PLD) method realizes uniform depositions of desired coatings by a modified pulsed laser deposition process, preferably with a femto-second laser-system. Multi-component coatings (single or multilayered) are thus deposited onto substrates via laser induced ablation of segmented targets.

Inverse pulsed laser deposition
Applied Physics A, 2008Since the advent of pulsed laser deposition (PLD), several different target-substrate arrangements have been proposed. Besides the most common on-axis PLD, several off-axis geometries were studied, mainly to protect the substrate from the agglomerated species (clusters, droplets, particulates) of the plasma plume, which are detrimental to the ...

We have investigated the crystallinity of (BTO) thin films on (100)MgO and (100)STO substrates and the (YBCO) buffer on MgO. An ArF excimer laser with a fluence 1.4 to 3.6 per pulse was used of the preparation of BTO films at substrate temperatures in 500 to and oxygen pressures of to Torr. BTO thin films with (001) orientation were grown on (100)

Pulsed laser deposition of pseudowollastonite coatings
Biomaterials, 2002Pseudowollastonite (alpha-CaSiO3) is a bioactive ceramic material that induces direct bone growth. A process to obtain pseudowollastonite coatings that may be applied to implants is described and evaluated in this work. The coatings were first deposited on titanium alloy by laser ablation with a pulsed Nd:YAG laser tripled in frequency.

Pulsed laser deposition of active waveguides
Thin Solid Films, 2003We report on the pulsed laser deposition (PLD )of thin films of chalcogenide and tellurite glasses doped with RE ions. The depositions were performed in vacuum, for chalcogenide films, and in a low oxygen pressure for the tellurite films by using an excimer laser.

Pulsed laser deposition with excimer lasers
physica status solidi c, 2008AbstractProgress in material research and processing industry is fueled by the technique of pulsed laser deposition (PLD). High energy excimer lasers enable this technique since every material is amenable to their high photon energies. Spectral properties, temporal pulse and laser beam parameters of state of the art excimer lasers will be compared with

Research on materials grown by pulsed laser deposition, or PLD, has experienced phenomenal growth since late 1987 when T. Venkatesan (one of the authors for this issue) and co-workers pointed out that extreme nonequilibrium conditions created by pulsed laser melting of YBaCuO allowed in-situ preparation of thin films of this high transition temperature

Femtosecond pulsed-laser deposition of BaTiO 3
Applied Physics A: Materials Science & Processing, 2003The elemental composition and the surface morphology of thin films grown by laser ablation of barium titanate with femtosecond pulses at 620 nm laser wavelength have been systematically studied according to the experimental pulsed-laser deposition parameters : laser energy density, oxygen pressure, substrate temperature, target-substrate distance and ...

Pulsed laser deposition of BaGa2O4
Applied Physics A, 2008This paper reports the first results obtained on monobarium gallate thin films grown on silicon and platinum coated substrates by pulsed laser deposition. The influence of oxygen background pressure and substrate (or post-annealing) temperature on the film properties was studied.
