Development and Optimization of a 10-Stage Solid-State Linear Transformer Driver
This work details the development of a 10-stage solid-stage linear transformer driver (SSLTD) capable of producing 24 kV, 1 kA pulses with a rise-time of ∼10 ns utilizing SiC MOSFET switches.

Simulation of EM wave propagation along a femtosecond laser plasma filament
The propagation of electromagnetic (EM) wave along a plasma filament induced by the sufficiently intense femtosecond laser pulse is studied with the commercial simulation software XFDTD. The simulated results show that the EM wave can propagate along the

Correlation between fragility and free volume void size at glass transition temperature
Despite the tremendous endeavors devoted to exploiting the nature of glass transition, the factors that control the steepness index of viscosity near glass transition, that is, fragility, remain unclear.

Pulsed Power and Power Conditioning Capacitors
A capacitor development effort focused on capacitors used in pulsed power and power conversion applications underwent at General Atomics Electronic Systems Inc. (GA-ESI) for decades. In recent years, funding for these efforts has accelerated the rate of development progress to the point where the time it takes to decrease the size of a capacitor by ...

Assessing nanocrystalline pulsed transformer core performance using Maxwell ANSYS
This paper employs the commercial simulation software ANSYS Maxwell to explore the fast-rise short-pulse magnetic properties of Finemet nanocrystalline cores, specifically FT-3KL and FT-3KM, under high magnetization rates (>0.5 T/μs) in pulsed power ...

High-Power Acoustic-Optical Q-Switched 1.83 µm Tm-Doped Bulk Laser
We report on a high-power acoustic-optical (AO) Q-switched Tm:YLF laser operating at ~1.83 μm by controlling the transmittance of the output coupler. Under the continuous-wave (CW) operation, the maximum output power of 13 W is achieved, and the slope ...

From mice to humans—divergent strategies for intestinal homeostasis and regeneration
Recent advances such as organoid genome editing, xenotransplantation, imaging, and whole‐genome sequencing have enabled direct studies of human intestinal stem cells (ISCs). These studies reveal species‐specific features, including slower ISC proliferation, distinct injury responses, slower somatic mutation accumulation in humans, and an inverse ...

Discerning protein pools by selective staining with self‐labeling tags
Cell surface proteins have an intra‐ and extracellular pool. Combining genetic fusion to self‐labeling tags that can be addressed with small molecule fluorophores allows separating these pools. We highlight recent developments and techniques for state‐of‐the‐art interrogation of cell surface proteins in the complex tissue setting.
