A quantitative analysis of pulsed video thermography

Abstract The defect imaging capability of a pulsed video thermography system is assessed by detailed quantitative analysis of its performance in imaging a set of well characterized artificial defects in a steel test-piece. An analytical model is presented which provides an understanding of the imaging process.

Possible applications of pulse phase thermography

Recently, the fundamental of the ''pulse phase thermography'' approach were described. As it is recalled, this approach combine somehow the well-known ''pulse thermography'' and the ''modulated thermography'' for which specimens are submitted to periodical excitation. Some advantages of this novel approach were demonstrated as well.
