Flexible Thin‐Film Heater Composed of Laser‐Induced Graphene and Poly(D, L‐Lactic Acid) with Electro‐ and Photo‐Thermal Properties toward Cancer Thermotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Electronic Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces a thin‐film‐type heat‐generating device that uses laser induced graphene (LIG) on a poly(D, L‐lactic) acid film, which realizes both resistance heating by direct current application and photothermal conversion heating by near‐infrared light irradiation.

Transient Thermoreflectance for Gate Temperature Assessment in Pulse Operated GaN-based HEMTs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
An experimental method to measure the gate metal temperature of GaN-based HEMTs is demonstrated. The technique is based on transient thermoreflectance measurements performed from the backside of the device.

Deep Learning Approaches for Classifying Crack States With Overload and Predicting Fatigue Parameters in a Titanium Alloy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This study proposes a deep learning approach to evaluate the fatigue crack behavior in metals under overload conditions. Using digital image correlation to capture the strain near crack tips, convolutional neural networks classify crack states as normal, overload, or recovery, and accurately predict fatigue parameters.

Depth estimation of inner wall defects by means of infrared thermography [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
There two common methods dealing with interpreting data from infrared thermography: qualitatively and quantitatively. On a certain condition, the first method would be sufficient, but for an accurate interpretation, one should undergo the second one ...

Pulsed Phase Thermography analysis on cylindrical geometry

open access: yesProceedings of the 2014 International Conference on Quantitative InfraRed Thermography, 2014
Goal of this work is the characterization of flaws in cylindrical geometry exploiting Pulse Phase Thermography (PPT), a Non-Destructive Testing method belonging to the Infrared Thermography category. The experiments are conducted on a hollow semicylindrical Plexiglas pipe section, with an outer and an inner diameter, respectively, of 150 mm and 130 mm.
