A Complete Analysis and a Novel Solution for Instability in Pump Controlled Asymmetric Actuators
Journal of Dynamic Systems, Measurement and Control, Transactions of the ASME, 2015This paper addresses the stability problem of pump controlled asymmetric hydraulic actuators and proposes a physical solution for it. The system under consideration utilizes a shuttle valve to compensate for unequal flow rates due to the asymmetry in the actuator.

Design and Simulation Analysis of a Pump-Controlled Actuation System for Heavy-Duty Booms
BATH/ASME 2022 Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control, 2022Abstract The electrified pump-controlled hydraulics receives increasing attention from both industry and academia. Its combined advantages of hydraulic and electric actuators result in an expanding application in heavy-duty actuation. One example of such actuation application is the boom.

Performance of a Pump Controlled Asymmetric Actuator: A Comparison of Different Control Methods
ASME/BATH 2014 Symposium on Fluid Power and Motion Control, 2014This paper discusses different stabilizing pump control methods to improve and optimize the damping of a pump controlled asymmetric linear actuator response. The main purpose of the paper has been to study the redeeming features and drawbacks of influencing the actuator response by pump control without direct position, velocity or pressure feedback ...

Time delay control of a pump-controlled electro-hydraulic actuator
2015 15th International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems (ICCAS), 2015This paper presents an accurate position control for a pump-controlled electro-hydraulic actuator (EHA) using time-delay estimation (TDE). The TDE technique is used to estimate nonlinear terms of EHA, which is a third order nonlinear system. The measured signal of linear encoder, and pressure of the EHA are used to implement the TDE technique.

Note: Creep character of piezoelectric actuator under switched capacitor charge pump control
Review of Scientific Instruments, 2011A major deficiency in piezoelectric actuator performance is caused by hysteresis and creep effects. Switched capacitor charge pump control was previously proved to be an effective way to reduce hysteresis. In this work, creep character of a piezoelectric stack under charge pump control is investigated and modeled. Experiments show that the creep can be

This paper employs the quantitative feedback theory (QFT) to design a robust fixed-gain linear velocity controller for a newly developed single-rod pump-controlled actuator. The actuator operates in four quadrants, with a load force becoming resistive or assistive alternatively.

This paper presents an adaptive robust force control of a pump-controlled electro-hydraulic actuator for application in an active suspension system. To overcome the limitations of a linearized model for a pump-controlled electro-hydraulic actuator (EHA), which has been already studied in existing literature, an improved nonlinear model is proposed.

This paper studies the high performance robust motion control of a pump-controlled electro-hydrostatic actuation (EHA) with single-rod hydraulic actuator. Started from the observation that EHA system has almost linear dynamics in small operating range, the linear control technique is taken into account.

Abstract Pump-controlled hydraulic system, compared with the valve-controlled one, has simplified structure and increased efficiency, but the dynamic response is poor. This paper presents a high precision, fast dynamic response, and computational low-cost controller for a novel direct-drive pump-controlled hydraulic system.

Transactions of the Institute of Measurement and Control
In this paper, a LuGre model–based robust adaptive control (RAC) approach is presented for a pump-controlled hydraulic actuator. We first decompose the LuGre friction model into its steady-state model and a lumped dynamic part applying the mean value theorem, which are compensated by a feedforward term and a robust adaptive term, respectively.
