Conductive Hydrogels for Exogenous Sensing and Cell Fate Control

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
We engineer electrically conductive hydrogels by combining sulfated glycosaminoglycans with semiconducting polymers. These hydrogels bind bioactive proteins, including growth factors, whose release or retention can be modulated by low‐voltage stimulation. The hydrogels are also integrated as 3D channels in organic electrochemical transistors as part of

Flexibility Evaluation Framework Integrating Supply and Demand for High Renewable Share Power Systems

open access: yesCSEE Journal of Power and Energy Systems
Flexible resources (FRs) in power systems serve as a critical enabler for integration of high share renewable energy. Conventional planning practices mainly focus on supply-side FRs while neglecting demand-side flexibility potential, which challenges the

Methods of Thermal Energy Storage by Using Smart Heat Pumps

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series
Abstract To address energy problems in thermodynamic installations, the authors of the paper propose a working methodology in which the determining role of the exergetic aspects of the processes is especially emphasized. One of these energy problems, addressed in many papers in recent years, is of particular importance in the fight to ...

Engineering Strain‐Stiffening Granular Hydrogels for 3D‐Printed Tissue‐Mimicry

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A 3D‐printable strain‐stiffening double‐network granular hydrogel (SDGH) enables independent, region‐specific tuning of toe (EToe) and heel (EHeel) moduli through control of microgel packing and network composition. This platform replicates tissue‐like nonlinear mechanics and allows fabrication of high‐fidelity, multilayered aortic valves with ...

Nocturnal Intraocular Pressure Monitoring With a Soft Contact Lens Sensor for Glaucoma Management

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A soft contact lens sensor enables continuous, noninvasive monitoring of nocturnal intraocular pressure (IOP) under closed‐eye sleep conditions. By integrating a highly compliant inductive–capacitive circuit onto a commercial lens, the device achieves record sensitivity and stable performance.

Ground-source heat pumps and underground thermal energy storage: energy for the future [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We need energy for space heating—but in most cases not where or when energy sources are available. Energy storage, which helps match energy supply and demand, has been practised for centuries, also in Norway. Energy storage systems will increase the potential of utilising renewable\ud energy sources such as geothermal energy, solar heat and waste heat.
