Adaptive Hydrogels With Spatiotemporal Stiffening Using pH‐Modulating Enzymes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, Volume 36, Issue 38, 11 May 2026.
The chemomechanical coupling in an adaptive hydrogel is studied to further the development of adaptive hydrogels. This coupling is achieved by embedding a pH‐modulating enzyme in a pH‐responsive hydrogel. The enzymatic reaction can be triggered locally, which generates a pH‐decreasing wave throughout the system, increasing the crosslinking density and ...

Microfluidic Modeling of Macrophage‐Induced Cardiac Inflammation Using NF‐κB Reporter Cardiomyocytes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A cardiac inflammation model was developed to enable real‐time analysis of macrophage‐cardiomyocyte interactions using NF‐κB‐reporter cardiomyocytes and a microfluidic co‐culture system. A MATLAB‐based model was implemented to optimize cell density and medium resupply based on TNFα diffusion kinetics. Activation thresholds and stress responses in NF‐κB‐

A New 3D Colon on a Chip to Decipher the Influence of Mechanical Forces on the Physiological Cellular Ecosystem

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
To dissect how mechanical forces influence intestinal physiology, we developed a stretchable 3D colon‐on‐chip that integrates tunable topography, stiffness and peristalsis‐like motion within a physiologically relevant microenvironment. We showed that stretching is a dominant factor governing epithelial behavior, markedly enhancing proliferation and ...

Interfacially Reinforced Crosslinked Binder with Structural Integrity for Stable Micro‐Sized Silicon Anodes in All‐solid‐state Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 26, 8 May 2026.
ABSTRACT All‐solid‐state batteries (ASSBs) have attracted considerable attention as next‐generation energy storage systems owing to their high energy density and safety. However, their performance is critically limited by insufficient solid–solid interfacial contact and severe chemomechanical degradation, particularly for micro‐sized silicon (µSi ...

Addressing Bottlenecks to Achieve High‐Energy Sodium‐Ion Cells Using Tin Anodes

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, Volume 16, Issue 17, 6 May 2026.
The challenges in coupling high voltage cathode with Sn‐alloying anode or in anode‐free cell, using glyme based electrolytes to realize high energy Na‐ion cells are reported. Surface protection strategy such as SnO coating on Sn or trapping the parasitic species from poisoning the anode, helps improving the cyclability, with ∼100% capacity retention ...

A Simple and Scalable LiF‐Reinforced PEO Gel Electrolyte for Durable Lithium Metal Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy and Sustainability Research, Volume 7, Issue 5, May 2026.
Realization of a scalable and low‐cost composite gel polymer electrolyte (CGPE) incorporating LiF ceramic particles (white cubes). These rigid fillers act as a robust physical barrier, effectively deflecting and suppressing lithium dendrite growth at the anode interface.

High‐Velocity Ballistic Impact Performance of FFF Printed PEEK With Different Infill Patterns

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering, Volume 311, Issue 5, May 2026.
This study examines 3D printed PEEK under Izod, quasi‐static, and high‐velocity impact. Hexagonal infill shows the highest Izod impact strength and superior quasi‐static energy absorption. However, under ballistic impact, all patterns behave similarly, indicating performance depends on infill at low velocity, but on intrinsic material properties at ...

An Ultrasound‐Triggered Antibacterial Hydrogel With Integrated Antioxidant and Angiogenic Functions for Infected Wound Care

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 5, May 2026.
ABSTRACT Managing diabetic wounds requires simultaneously addressing their infectious, oxidative, and regenerative impairments. To address this, this study integrates a piezoelectric BiOCl@CuSe heterojunction (PFM‐verified) into an injectable F127/HA hydrogel, creating an ultrasound‐responsive smart dressing.

Electrochemical Lithium‐Ion Recovery from Battery Recycling Process Water

open access: yesChemSusChem, Volume 19, Issue 8, 28 April 2026.
A high‐purity Lithium‐ion solution was recovered by implementing a simple two‐step process combining the wet‐shredding of spent Lithium‐ion batteries with efficient electrochemical desalination. This work provides a simple and novel approach for the electrochemical extraction of Lithium ions from spent batteries.
