Ocufen and pupillary dilation during cataract surgery

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 1989
A random, masked prospective study was performed on 100 patients having elective extracapsular cataract extraction to evaluate the ability of Ocufen (flurbiprofen) to maintain dilation of the pupil. All the patients received a standard dilating regimen; half also received Ocufen drops.

Effects of Ketamine on Pupillary Reflex Dilation

A & A Practice, 2018
Ketamine is an important component of multimodal treatment and a commonly used anesthetic drug. However, its analgesic effects have not been fully assessed intraoperatively because of difficulties in measuring this effect. In this case report, a woman underwent general anesthesia with ketamine and its pupillary reflexes were measured to detect ...

Persistent pupillary dilation in herpes simplex uveitis

Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2009

Failure of Pupillary Dilation in Early Choroidal Detachment

Ophthalmic Surgery, Lasers and Imaging Retina, 1985
Transient miosis presents a challenge in extracapsular cataract extraction and retinal detachment surgery, despite the advent of the small-pupil ophthalmoscope. Mechanisms have been proposed and preventive measures described. We describe a case of transient miosis that led to cancellation of the repair of retinal detachment and was the first sign of ...

Validity of simple measurement to diagnose pupillary dilation

The American Journal of Emergency Medicine, 2005
The aim of the study was to compare the validity of 3 methods of detecting pupillary dilation: bright-light measurement, room-light measurement, and gestalt judgment. In reach volunteer, by random assignment, placebo was instilled in one eye and dilute phenylephrine in the other.

Analysis of pupillary dilation produced by analogs of clonidine

European Journal of Pharmacology, 1981
Pupillary responses to intravenous administration of clonidine and five congeneric derivatives of clonidine were observed in anesthetized cats. All of the agents tested produced a dose-dependent mydriasis of long duration. The order of potency for these compounds was clonidine (St-155) greater than St.375 greater than St-606 greater than St-608 greater

A NEW DEVICE FOR PUPILLARY DILATATION IN VITREOUS SURGERY

Retina, 1992
A completely new surgical technique to obtain pupillary dilatation is presented. It permits achievement of a mydriasis sufficient to observe the vitreous cavity in both phakic and aphakic eyes during vitreous surgery. Miotic immobile pupils not dilatable pharmacologically are enlarged by means of a silastic ring with a C-shaped groove on its outer part.

Properties of the pupillary dilation produced by the humoral factor in the pupillary reflex dilation: an experimental study in the cat.

Japanese journal of ophthalmology, 1990
Physiopharmacological properties of the pupillary dilation produced by the humoral factor in the reflex pupillary dilation were studied in cats anesthetized with ketamine-HC1. Pupillary dilation produced by the humoral factor was separated from that produced by the neural mechanism, ie, sympathetic activation and parasympathetic inhibition, by ...
