Robotic‐Assisted Electrode Array Insertion Improves Stability of Acoustic Hearing Thresholds

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 7, Page 3146-3154, July 2026.
This study evaluated the impact of robotic‐assisted electrode array insertion on rates of delayed‐onset hearing loss (DOHL). DOHL occurred in 22 of 60 subjects (37%) in the manual cohort compared with 2 of 29 subjects (7%) in the robotic‐assisted cohort, representing a statistically significant reduction (p = 0.002).

Evaluation of a New, Community‐Based Screening Program to Detect Hearing Loss in Adult Childhood Cancer Survivors in Switzerland: Findings From the HEAR Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, Volume 73, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Childhood cancer survivors (CCS) have an increased risk of long‐term health complications, including treatment‐related hearing loss. Although early detection is important, many adult survivors do not attend hearing screenings in clinical centers because visits can be logistically or emotionally burdensome.

Adjunctive Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy or Intratympanic Steroids in Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss?

open access: yesThe Laryngoscope, Volume 136, Issue 6, Page 2708-2718, June 2026.
Sudden sensorineural hearing loss is traditionally treated with steroids, either orally and/or via intratympanic injections, and hyperbaric oxygen treatment (HBOT) has resurged in popularity as an adjunctive therapy. The study has not found any additional treatment benefit with adjunctive concurrent HBOT; however, HBOT might be of value to patients ...

Functional reassessment of extended splice region variants in MYO7A with hearing loss and Usher syndrome

open access: yesThe Journal of Pathology, Volume 269, Issue 2, Page 222-231, June 2026.
Abstract MYO7A is a causal gene, underlying Usher syndrome type 1B (USH1B) and both autosomal recessive (DFNB2) and dominant (DFNA11) non‐syndromic hearing loss. Despite the large number of reported MYO7A variants (over 2,200), variants located in an extended splice region remain difficult to interpret and are often classified as variants of uncertain ...
