Synthesis of heat‐integrated thermally coupled nonsharp distillation using self‐adaptive spherical search

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Although thermally coupled distillation (TCD) exhibits strong energy efficiency, the possibility of utility cost savings remains debatable. TCD designs that do not consider vapor transport can underestimate costs, making section rearrangement crucial to find more operable configurations.

Dynamic site‐interconversion reduces the induction period of methanol‐to‐olefin conversion

open access: yesAIChE Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Reaction–diffusion coupling across the catalyst pore, grain, pellet, and reactor bed has been studied using a particle‐resolved transient microkinetic model applied to temperature‐programmed desorption and step‐response studies of methanol and dimethyl ether conversion over ZSM‐5 catalysts, respectively.

Advancements in Machine Learning for Microrobotics in Biomedicine

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Microrobotics is an innovative technology with great potential for noninvasive medical interventions. However, controlling and imaging microrobots pose significant challenges in complex environments and in living organisms. This review explores how machine learning algorithms can address these issues, offering solutions for adaptive motion control and ...

Computer Vision for Substrate Detection in High‐Throughput Biomaterial Screens Using Bright‐Field Microscopy

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
It is known that biomaterial properties (e.g., shape, chemistry) direct how the body reacts to implanted materials. However, what features cause specific responses is not well known. High‐throughput screening can identify instructive properties, but manual feature segmentation in large brightfield image datasets limits discovery.
