Existence of a mountain pass solution for a nonlocal fractional ( p , q ) $(p, q)$ -Laplacian problem

open access: yesBoundary Value Problems, 2020
Here, a nonlocal nonlinear operator known as the fractional ( p , q ) $(p,q)$ -Laplacian is considered. The existence of a mountain pass solution is proved via critical point theory and variational methods.

Pentagonal 2D Altermagnets: Material Screening and Altermagnetic Tunneling Junction Device Application

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
From a database of 170 pentagonal 2D materials, 4 candidates exhibiting altermagnetic ordering are screened. Furthermore, the spin‐splitting and unconventional boundary states in the pentagonal 2D altermagnetic monolayer MnS2 are investigated. A MnS2‐based altermagnetic tunneling junction is designed and, through ab initio quantum transport simulations,

The Kadison-Singer Problem in Mathematics and Engineering

open access: yes, 2005
We will show that the famous, intractible 1959 Kadison-Singer problem in $C^{*}$-algebras is equivalent to fundamental unsolved problems in a dozen areas of research in pure mathematics, applied mathematics and Engineering.

Kinetic Insights into Precursor‐Assisted Soft Sphere Close Packing Revealed by In Situ GISAXS with Implications for Gas Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The versatile precursor‐assisted soft sphere close packing during slot‐die coating is investigated with in situ X‐ray scattering. The soft crystallization pathways towards a close packing involve multistep structural transitions such as surface nucleation, in‐plane, and out‐of‐plane crystallization.

Biodegradable and Recyclable Luminescent Mixed‐Matrix‐Membranes, Hydrogels, and Cryogels based on Nanoscale Metal‐Organic Frameworks and Biopolymers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The study presents biodegradable and recyclable mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs), hydrogels, and cryogels using luminescent nanoscale metal‐organic frameworks (nMOFs) and biopolymers. These bio‐nMOF‐MMMs combine europium‐based nMOFs as probes for the status of the materials with the biopolymers agar and gelatine and present alternatives to conventional ...

Notes in Pure Mathematics & Mathematical Structures in Physics

open access: yes, 2023
These Notes deal with various areas of mathematics, and seek reciprocal combinations, explore mutual relations, ranging from abstract objects to problems in physics. * * * Please do not download the book from the arXiv repository: it is an outdated version, and the arXiv software is not able to generate the pdfTeX, during the (new) “Submission ...

Metal‐Organic Nanosheet Gels: Hierarchically Porous Materials for Selective Loading and Differential Release

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A suspension of metal‐organic nanosheets was centrifuged to form self‐healing gels with a hierarchically porous structure. The prepared gels were used to selectively capture small molecules from solutions and differentially release them based on their size and charge. Abstract Metal‐organic nanosheets (MONs) are intrinsically porous 2D materials with a

Fluorophobic Effect Enables Selective Detection of PFAS in Water with Electrolyte‐Gated Organic Transistors

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
PerFluoroAlkyl Substances (PFAS) are responsible of major and persistent environmental pollution worldwide. This work demonstrates an ultra‐sensitive sensor for PFAS based on an organic transistor whose gate is functionalized with a binary self‐assembled monolayer containing a perfluorinated molecule.

Composition-Differentiation Operators on Derivative Hardy Spaces

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics
We first explore conditions under which every weighted composition-differentiation operator on the Hardy space H1D is completely continuous. We then discuss necessary and sufficient conditions for these operators to be Hilbert–Schmidt on the derivative ...
