Pure red cell aplasia (PRCA) was first described by Kaznelson (1922) as an anemia due to an almost complete cessation of erythropoiesis, but without leukopenia or thrombocytopenia. This condition usually can be clearly distinguished from aplastic anemia in which low blood white cell and platelet concentrations accompany the anemia (Van Der Weyden and ...

Niraparib-induced pure red cell aplasia
Journal of Oncology Pharmacy Practice, 2023Introduction Niraparib, a strong poly(adenosine diphosphate-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor, contributed significantly to progression-free survival as a maintenance therapy in the platinum-sensitive period in both first-line and recurrent ovarian cancer, regardless of the BRCA mutation.

LEUPROLIDE CAUSES PURE RED CELL APLASIA
Journal of Urology, 1998Pure red cell aplasia presents as a primary hematological disorder in the absence of any other disease or secondary to neoplasms, infections, collagen disease or exposure to chemicals or drugs. Many drugs have been implicated in the development of pure red cell ap1asia.l However, to our knowledge no luteinizing hormone-releasing hormone agonist has ...

Pure red-cell aplasia: a review
Blood Reviews, 1996Pure red-cell aplasia is an anemia characterized by a near absence of nucleated red blood cells. It can be congenital or acquired. The congenital form is probably induced by intrauterine damage to early erythroid stem cells. The acquired form can be transient and self-limited or sustained and lifelong.

Azathioprine‐associated pure red cell aplasia
Journal of Internal Medicine, 1993Abstract. Azathioprine‐associated pure red cell aplasia in patients with a renal allograft is a rare complication. Although immunological inhibition of erythroid progenitor cell has been suggested, the cause of this phenomenon remains unclear. The patient we describe showed a decrease in the number of erythroid progenitor cells and no evidence for the
