Computerized Pure-Tone Audiometric Procedures
Journal of Speech and Hearing Research, 1973The purpose of this study was to develop a computer program and the necessary interfacing systems which would enable a PDP/8-I digital computer to (1) control all aspects of administering pure-tone air- and bone-conduction stimuli; (2) recognize the need for masking based on unmasked auditory thresholds, determine the appropriate level of masking, and ...

Lateralization of partials of complex tones with pure tones
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1975The ability to detect lateralization images of individual partials of harmonic tone complexes with pure tones was measured in a yes/no task. It is supposed that partials of complex tones build up lateralization images with pure tones of equal frequency and amplitude.

BINAURAL LOCALIZATION OF PURE TONES
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1930Pure tones of frequency 256 cycles per second were presented binaurally to eight different observers, the phase difference and amplitude ratio of the acoustical pressures at the two ears being known and adjustable. The observers were asked to state the direction and distance of the apparent source of sound.

Pure-Tone Audiometry in Prenatal Rubella
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1971Audiological findings on 94 rubella children with histories of prenatal rubella incurred during the epidemic of 1963 to 1964 are reported. These children represent the first group drawn from a population of over 600 whose hearing could be evaluated by conditioned pure-tone air and bone-conduction tests. A hearing loss of 26 dB or more (ISO 1964) in the

Recognition and detection of pure tone
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1977We report measurements of the relation between the detection and recognition of sinusoids of different frequencies. The motivation for these measurements was a theorem presented by S.J. Starr, C.E. Metz, L.B. Lusted, and D.J. Goodenough [Radiology 116 533–538 (1975)] The theorem related recognition performance to a transform of the area under the ...

Pure Tone Audiometry in Noise with Auraldomes
International Journal of Audiology, 1975Pure tone thresholds were obtained using a TDH-39 driver mounted in a standard (MX-41/AR) cushion and an Auraldome (AR-100-R) circumaural enclosure. Thresholds were recorded in quiet and in the presence of broad band sound field noise at 50, 60, and 70 dB SPL.

Pure-Tone Thresholds of Professional Pianists
Archives of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery, 1960The Problem A few years ago a friendly dispute arose among some staff members of this hospital over the question whether the suddenly noticed hearing loss of a young concert pianist might have been caused by his constant exposure to piano sound. While one surgeon of eminent reputation believed in the possibility of chronic acoustic trauma produced by ...

Absolute pitch and pure tone identification
The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 1984In a partial replication of an experiment reported in this Journal [Lockhead and Byrd, J. Acoust. Soc. Am. 70, 387–389 (1981)] possessors of absolute pitch were tested for pitch identification of sine tone stimuli. Performance was far from pefect, but considerably better than the results previously reported.

Temporal integration of pure tones in the cat
Hearing Research, 1983A behavioral method for assessing auditory threshold in cats using food reward conditioning is described. The method requires that the cat press its nose against a touch panel in order to receive a stimulus and that it remove its nose when the stimulus is detected. Behavioral thresholds for pure tone stimuli of various durations are described for three
