Office Uroflowmetry Using a Maximum Flow Rate Purge Meter

Journal of Urology, 1979
The use of a purge size rotameter for the determination of maximum urinary flow rates represents an inexpensive and non-invasive method to detect obstructive or neurogenic lower urinary tract abnormalities. We have used the device to identify successfully selected patients with such abnormalities.

Numerical analysis of optical mirror jet-flow purging characteristics

AOPC 2021: Advanced Laser Technology and Applications, 2021
Efficient cleaning of pollutants on the optical lens surface is a very important and urgent research topic in the field of laser processing. Therefore, based on the free jet theory of fluid dynamics, the flow field characteristics of the optical system lens are theoretically analyzed and numerically simulated, and the flow field distribution of the ...

Towards the determination of regional purging flow rate

Building and Environment, 1997
Abstract This paper deals with the description and determination of the purging flow rate, U p , for ventilation systems or equivalent flow systems. The regional purging flow rate and its use are discussed and proposed. By using the mass conservation principle, U p is embodied in various accessible mathematical expressions in terms of the transfer ...

Sensitivity of Turbine Efficiency and Flow Structures to Varying Purge Flow

Journal of Propulsion and Power, 2010
In many turbines, a small amount of air is ejected at the hub rim seal to prevent ingestion of hot gases into the cavity between the stator and the disk. This paper presents an experimental and computational investigation on the sensitivity of a 1.5-stage high-work axial turbine to varying purge flow rates equipped with nonaxisymmetric end walls.

Refractory in Ladle Flow Control and Purging System

2020
Continuous strive towards new technology introduced reliable flow control systems that enable safe and prolong tapping liquid steel from ladle to tundish with consistent and high casting rate. Thus, synchronization of operational parameters, appropriate refractory and analysis of probable failure are essential and encountered.

FOUP purge performance improvement using EFEM flow converter

2016 27th Annual SEMI Advanced Semiconductor Manufacturing Conference (ASMC), 2016
Front Opening Unified Pod (FOUP) purging with nitrogen or clean dry air (CDA) is well known as the most effective method to protect wafers inside FOUPs from internal as well as external contaminations, e.g. particles, airborne molecular contaminants, humidity and oxygen, which can potentially damage integrated circuits (IC) and significantly impact ...

The Interaction of Purge Flows With Secondary Flow Features in Turbine Center Frames

Volume 2C: Turbomachinery — Design Methods and CFD Modeling for Turbomachinery; Ducts, Noise, and Component Interactions, 2021
Abstract The turbine center frame (TCF) is an inherent component of modern turbofan aircraft engines, used for facilitating the large radius change between the high-pressure (HPT) and low-pressure (LPT) turbines. Secondary flow features that develop in the TCF result in total pressure loss of the mainstream flow and a subsequent ...

Aerodynamic Performance of Turbine Center Frames With Purge Flows—Part II: The Influence of Individual Hub and Tip Purge Flows

Journal of Turbomachinery, 2018
The aerodynamic behavior of turbine center frame (TCF) ducts under the presence of high-pressure turbine (HPT) purge flows was experimentally investigated in this two-part paper. While the first part of the paper demonstrated the impact of varying the purge flow rates (PFR) on the loss behavior of two different TCF designs, the second part concentrates

Gas particle flows about a Cobra probe with purging

Computers & Fluids, 1995
Abstract The detailed flow behaviour around a special purpose four-hole Cobra Pilot pressure probe with purging is investigated computationally in gas and gas-particle flows. The incompressible steady state Navier-Stokes equations for the gas phase are solved numerically using a general purpose computational fluid dynamics code. Computational results

Flow Electroporation with Pulsed Electric Fields for Purging Tumor Cells

2008
Electroporation has been used in biological laboratories for many years to transiently porate cell membranes and permit plasmid or protein transfection. It has been shown that the application of pulsed electric fields (PEFs) of defined strength will kill off larger cells and select for viable small cells, in samples containing heterogeneous cells. This
