Connections of sleeve joint purlin system

Structural Engineering and Mechanics, 2002
This paper presents the findings of an investigation carried out to determine the most appropriate connections, in terms of rotational stiffness, to use for the optimum design of cold-formed Zed section sleeve joint purlin system. Experiments and parametric studies were conducted to investigate the effects of geometric variables on the behavior of the ...

Nonlinear Bending Analysis for Steel Purlin with Perforation

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2015
This paper presents a numerical investigation on the effect of perforation to the steel purlin on bending behaviour. In order to reduce the weight of steel sections, web profile with openings has been introduced in the construction industry, so does the purlin. However, there is no research done on the C-purlin with perforation.

Web Crippling Behavior of Sigma Purlins

ce/papers, 2021
AbstractDue to their thin‐walled nature and complex geometry, cold‐formed steel purlins are prone to a variety of instabilities. In most applications, purlins rely on the attached sheeting to restrain member buckling and hence their cross‐section is optimized to maximize their cross‐sectional resistance to local and distortional buckling caused by ...

Lateral buckling of restrained roof purlins

Thin-Walled Structures, 1984
Abstract A simple model is developed for the elastic lateral buckling of a continuous cold-formed roof purlin whose top flange is prevented from deflecting laterally, and which is braced against lateral deflection and twist at the supports and intermediate bridge points.

The strength and performance of cold formed steel purlins

Construction and Building Materials, 1988
Abstract An experimental and computer based investigation was carried out on a range of locally manufactured cold formed steel purlin sections to assess their behaviour at both serviceability and ultimate load levels. The test programme and test facility are described and a selection of typical results presented and discussed.
