Experimental data from out‐of‐plane shake‐table tests on unreinforced masonry gables

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 41, Issue 5, Page 4227-4245, December 2025.
This article presents a dataset from an experimental campaign investigating the out‐of‐plane (OOP) seismic response of unreinforced masonry (URM) gables in existing buildings. Addressing a critical gap in published research, the dataset provides novel experimental data on the incremental dynamic OOP behavior of three URM gables tested under seismic ...

Artificial intelligence assisted prediction of optimum operating conditions of shell and tube heat exchangers: A grey‐box approach

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 349-358, April 2025.
Abstract In this study, a Grey‐box (GB) model was developed to predict the optimum mass flow rates of inlet streams of a Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger (STHE) under varying process conditions. Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating (Aspen‐EDR) was initially used to construct a first principle model (FP) of the STHE using industrial data.

A recurrent neural network‐based rotor displacement estimation method for eight‐pole active magnetic bearing

open access: yesIET Electric Power Applications, Volume 18, Issue 11, Page 1480-1490, November 2024.
This paper proposes an innovative solution that utilises a recurrent neural network (RNN) to estimate the rotor displacement from the current in the AMB controller. The input dimensions and the architecture of the neural network are optimised to improve both prediction accuracy and computational complexity.

Artificial ground reflector size and position effects on energy yield and economics of single‐axis‐tracked bifacial photovoltaics

open access: yesProgress in Photovoltaics: Research and Applications, Volume 32, Issue 10, Page 675-686, October 2024.
Artificial ground reflectors were studied through modeling and field experiments for bifacial single‐axis‐tracked photovoltaic systems. Fielded reflectors increased daily energy yield up to 6.2%. Modeled reflectors increased irradiance by 1.9–8.6% and energy yield by 0.9–4.5% annually after considering clipping.
