Building Extraction Model Based on UAV Remote Sensing Image: A Case Study of Bohai Bay Area in Shandong Province, China

open access: yesAdvances in Civil Engineering, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
To address the issues in traditional earthquake disaster assessment, such as low efficiency, high risk of manual surveys, and limitations of two‐dimensional data, this study selects 16 districts and counties in the Bohai Bay area of Shandong Province (with a total area of 23,635 square kilometers, over 90% of which are rural areas) as the research area.

Artificial Neural Network‐Based Optimization of Anaerobic Digestion in Municipal Wastewater Treatment

open access: yesInternational Journal of Energy Research, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Improving methane production is essential for enhancing the self‐sufficiency of wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), with anaerobic digestion (AD) acting as the key sustainability driver by serving as an energy recovery mechanism. Artificial intelligence (AI) offers an effective way to manage the AD process without requiring a detailed understanding of

Design of an Innovative CFS Purlin (Zigmax®) by Experimental Testing

open access: yesce/papers, Volume 8, Issue 6, Page 337-342, December 2025.
Abstract ZIGMAX® is an innovative cold‐formed steel solution developed for roof purlins stabilized by steel sheeting or sandwich panels. This hybrid cross‐section merges the benefits of traditional Z and Σ profiles, delivering improved structural performance.

Structural Efficiency Of Cold-Formed Steel Purlins [PDF]

open access: yesInternational conference KNOWLEDGE-BASED ORGANIZATION, 2015
Abstract Cold-formed steel structures represents an alternative to classic buildings made of hot rolled steel profiles which bring a lot of savings based on advanced calculations and also some practical measures in order to provide optimum strength and weight ratio. Due to these advantages, cold-formed steel structures are

Experimental data from out‐of‐plane shake‐table tests on unreinforced masonry gables

open access: yesEarthquake Spectra, Volume 41, Issue 5, Page 4227-4245, December 2025.
This article presents a dataset from an experimental campaign investigating the out‐of‐plane (OOP) seismic response of unreinforced masonry (URM) gables in existing buildings. Addressing a critical gap in published research, the dataset provides novel experimental data on the incremental dynamic OOP behavior of three URM gables tested under seismic ...

OPTIMIZATION OF PURLINS CROSS-SECTION EXPOSED TO FIRE

open access: yesSTEPGRAD XVI (2024)
<p>In practice, consideration of fire protection for structural elements mainly occurs after the adopted dimensions of sections. However, this procedure leads to not the most cost-effective solution in general. To find the optimal solution, it is necessary to apply one of the optimization methods. The presented optimization of purlins RHS

Artificial intelligence assisted prediction of optimum operating conditions of shell and tube heat exchangers: A grey‐box approach

open access: yesCAAI Transactions on Intelligence Technology, Volume 10, Issue 2, Page 349-358, April 2025.
Abstract In this study, a Grey‐box (GB) model was developed to predict the optimum mass flow rates of inlet streams of a Shell and Tube Heat Exchanger (STHE) under varying process conditions. Aspen Exchanger Design and Rating (Aspen‐EDR) was initially used to construct a first principle model (FP) of the STHE using industrial data.

Analysis and Design of Cold-Formed Z Purlins

open access: yesInternational Journal for Research in Applied Science and Engineering Technology, 2022
Abstract: Structures built by cold-formed segments of primary members secondary members and roof panels provide a different solution for a great variety of areas such as housing, storage, education, etc The design of cold-formed sections has obvious complexity in view of the buckling of sections vis-à-vis stress in the compression element, especially ...
