Landscape complexity and elevation affect the effectiveness of a local pest-management practice

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation, 2019
Farm-scale diversification practices have been proposed as a means to enhance crop protection, primarily by increasing the presence of beneficial arthropods. The effectiveness of diversification is often context-dependent.

Fiber-optic push-pull sensor systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Fiber-optic push-pull sensors are those which exploit the intrinsically differential nature of an interferometer with concommitant benefits in common-mode rejection of undesired effects.

Conserved structural motifs in PAS, LOV, and CRY proteins regulate circadian rhythms and are therapeutic targets

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Cryptochrome and PAS/LOV proteins play intricate roles in circadian clocks where they act as both sensors and mediators of protein–protein interactions. Their ubiquitous presence in signaling networks has positioned them as targets for small‐molecule therapeutics. This review provides a structural introduction to these protein families.

On the push&pull protocol for rumour spreading

open access: yes, 2015
The asynchronous push&pull protocol, a randomized distributed algorithm for spreading a rumour in a graph $G$, works as follows. Independent Poisson clocks of rate 1 are associated with the vertices of $G$.

Re‐Awakening Public Attention to the Silent Pandemic of Cancer Among Older Adults in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT As global populations age, cancer is increasingly becoming a leading cause of morbidity and mortality among older adults, particularly in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Despite accounting for the majority of new cancer cases and deaths, older individuals remain underrepresented in cancer research, clinical guidelines, and health ...

Push and Pull Policy in Market-Driven Management

open access: yesSymphonya, 2008
Push and pull policies identify the different logics that underpin the relationship between a business and its final demand. Push policy refers to the development of processes that emanate from the company and go towards the market, while pull policy ...

Push-Pull Block Puzzles are Hard

open access: yes, 2017
This paper proves that push-pull block puzzles in 3D are PSPACE-complete to solve, and push-pull block puzzles in 2D with thin walls are NP-hard to solve, settling an open question by Zubaran and Ritt.

Whole‐Body Pattern of Muscle Degeneration and Progression in Sarcoglycanopathies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective To characterize whole‐body intramuscular fat distribution pattern in patients with sarcoglycanopathies and explore correlations with disease severity, duration and age at onset. Methods Retrospective, cross‐sectional, multicentric study enrolling patients with variants in one of the four sarcoglycan genes who underwent whole‐body ...

Remote Assessment of Ataxia Severity in SCA3 Across Multiple Centers and Time Points

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Spinocerebellar ataxia type 3 (SCA3) is a genetically defined ataxia. The Scale for Assessment and Rating of Ataxia (SARA) is a clinician‐reported outcome that measures ataxia severity at a single time point. In its standard application, SARA fails to capture short‐term fluctuations, limiting its sensitivity in trials.

Economic Burden of Rheumatoid Arthritis in Low‐ and Middle‐Income Countries: Systematic Review and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The aim of this systematic review was to synthesize the economic impact of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) on households, health systems, and society in low‐ and middle‐income countries (LMICs). Methods Electronic databases such as PubMed, Web of Science, and CINAHL were searched using keywords related to RA and cost of illness.
