Space Station Freedom solar array panels plasma interaction test facility [PDF]

open access: yes, 1989
The Space Station Freedom Power System will make extensive use of photovoltaic (PV) power generation. The phase 1 power system consists of two PV power modules each capable of delivering 37.5 KW of conditioned power to the user.

Parity violating radiative emission of neutrino pair in heavy alkaline earth atoms of even isotopes

open access: yes, 2014
Metastable excited states ${}^3P_2, {}^3P_0$ of heavy alkaline earth atoms of even isotopes are studied for parity violating (PV) effects in radiative emission of neutrino pair (RENP).

Charge Measurement of Dust Particles on Photovoltaic Module [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Photovoltaic (PV) systems are one of the most promising renewable energy sources in the world, and hence it is important to explore the factors that affect the working / operational efficiency of this source.

Associations of Sleep and Shift Work With Osteoarthritis Risk

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Daily rhythms may be critical for maintaining homeostasis of joint tissues. We aimed to investigate the relationships among circadian clock disruption, sleep, and osteoarthritis (OA) risk in humans. Methods In the UK Biobank, a prospective 500,000–person cohort, we evaluated associations among sleep duration, sleeplessness/insomnia, and shift

Zonal Jets as Transport Barriers in Planetary Atmospheres [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The connection between transport barriers and potential vorticity (PV) barriers in PV-conserving flows is investigated with a focus on zonal jets in planetary atmospheres. A perturbed PV-staircase model is used to illustrate important concepts. This flow

Differential Item Functioning on the Patient Health Questionnaire 8 by Disease Subtype, Language, Sex, and Age Among People With Systemic Sclerosis: A Scleroderma Patient‐Centered Intervention Network Cohort Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Somatic items used in depression assessments can potentially overlap with symptoms related to physical illness, including systemic sclerosis (SSc). No studies have looked at whether somatic depression items may be influenced by diffuse versus limited SSc disease subtypes, which are associated with varying degrees of symptom presentation.

An improved modeling method to determine the model parameters of photovoltaic (PV) modules using differential evolution (DE) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
To accurately model the PV module, it is crucial to include the effects of irradiance and temperature when computing the value of the model parameters.

Characterization of Nitinol Produced by Laser Powder Bed Fusion for Mechanical Metamaterial Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Stabilization of L‐PBF Ni50.7Ti49.3 under low‐cycle loading was investigated. Recoverable strain after cycling was dependent on the amount of applied load. Recovery ratio was 53.4% and 35.1% at intermediate and high load, respectively. The maximum total strain reached 10.3% at a high load of 1200 MPa.

Module Integrated PV Balancer for PV Applications

open access: yesInternational Journal of Innovative Technology and Exploring Engineering, 2019
This paper presents the possibility of Module Integrated Converters (MIC) called PV balancers for photovoltaic applications. The proposed thought enables self-governing Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) for each board, and radically decreases the requirements for power converters. The power rating of a PV balancer is under 20% of its accomplices, and

Toward Knowledge‐Based Workflows: A Semantic Approach to Atomistic Simulations for Mechanical and Thermodynamic Properties

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Knowledge‐based atomistic workflows are presented for mechanical and thermodynamic properties. By coupling modular simulations with ontology‐aligned metadata and provenance, Fe case studies on elastic behavior, defects, thermal properties, and Hall–Petch strengthening reveal how FAIR, queryable, and reusable simulation data can be generated. Mechanical
