Cooling Techniques for Performance Improvement of PV Systems

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2020
Upon studying photovoltaic (PV) systems, we find that they are contradictory. They require sunlight most importantly for the generation of electricity. But, as the temperature keeps increasing, the performance of the panel degrades. This paperwork is a review and compilation of systems used for cooling PV systems and in turn increasing efficiency.

Optimum depth for PV cooling ducts

Solar Energy, 2006
A theoretical foundation is given for a previously-reported design rule for the geometry of PV cooling ducts. It is confirmed that the temperature rise of the face of the duct near its exit, and hence of the PV array in contact with it, is minimised when the ratio L/D of the duct length to its hydraulic depth is around 20. Choosing this proportion will

Heat transfer characteristics and performance evaluation of water-cooled PV/T system with cooling channel above PV panel

Renewable Energy, 2018
Abstract A three-dimensional numerical model of water-cooled PV/T system with cooling channel above PV panel was built to analyze the influences of mass flow rate, cooling channel height, inlet water temperature and solar radiation intensity on heat transfer characteristics of cooling channel and performance of system.

Combining PV MPPT algorithm based on temperature measurement with a PV cooling system

2016 International Conference on Signal Processing, Communication, Power and Embedded System (SCOPES), 2016
The photovoltaic (PV) module efficiency is affected by environmental conditions, particularly by changing solar insolation and temperature conditions. This paper presents a temperature based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) where a temperature sensor is used to calculate the optimum voltage to be imposed across the photovoltaic devices and a PV ...

Preliminary study of a water cooled PV system

2018 International Conference on Communications and Electrical Engineering (ICCEE), 2018
This work deals to improve the efficiency of the photovoltaic panel efficiency by water cooling. This cooling system uses 50 g/s of water flow rate which circulates in a closed circuit between an insulated tank and the back side of the photovoltaic panel.

Increased PV Panel Performance Using PCM Cooling Approach

Journal of Futuristic Sciences and Applications, 2019
Photovoltaic panels perform worse at low operating temperatures, it is bad for PV panel performance when operating temperatures are low and efficient. A portion of this spectrum is converted into electrical power when light rays strike the PV pane plate, while the remainder of the spectrum raises the temperature of the cell.

Thermal Experimental Investigation on Air Cooled PV Panel

RE&PQJ
The cooling of PV panels has the potential to reduce the cost of solar energy. By proper circulation of a fluid with low inlet temperature, heat can be extracted from PV modules, keeping the electrical efficiency at satisfactory values. In this paper, the dynamic of air cooled PV panels’ temperature are experimentally investigated.
