Cooling of PV panels by natural convection

open access: yes, 2012
Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) is an important source of renewable energy production for Zero Emission Buildings, even in Norwegian climate. In the planned Powerhouse 1 building at Brattøra in Trondheim the idea to reach a zero emission building level is to use PVs as a roofing material covering the entire roof. Challenges and questions raised

Off‐Grid Solar Systems: An Experimental Work and Systematic Techno‐Economic Analysis

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
In the study mentioned above, experimental monitoring and economic evaluation of two off‐grid PV systems were conducted using a low‐cost data logger. The results suggest that basic DC systems are economically feasible compared to grid power, but that AC systems require further cost‐cutting to achieve financial viability.

Efficiency enhancement of photovoltaic module using bio-based eutectic phase change material: An experimental study [PDF]

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences
Photovoltaic cells convert absorbed solar energy into electricity by transforming the incident visible wavelengths of solar radiation on their surface, while the other wavelengths are transformed into thermal energy.

Revealing the dynamics of Class 0 protostellar discs with ALMA

open access: yes, 2016
We present synthetic ALMA observations of Keplerian, protostellar discs in the Class 0 stage studying the emission of molecular tracers like $^{13}$CO, C$^{18}$O, HCO$^+$, H$^{13}$CO$^+$, N$_2$H$^+$, and H$_2$CO. We model the emission of discs around low-

Performance Monitoring of Photovoltaic Modules Using Machine‐Learning‐Based Solutions: A Survey of Current Trends

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
The graphical abstract presents the concept of applying machine‐learning algorithms to assess the performance of photovoltaic modules. Data from solar panels are fed to surrogates of intelligent models, to assess the following performance metrics: identifying faults, quantifying energy production and trend degradation over time. The combination of data

Feasibility Study and Optimal Placement of Solar Power Plants Using Binary Genetic Algorithm

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study introduces an integrated optimization framework using a binary genetic algorithm (BGA) for optimal siting and sizing of two solar plants (865 and 739 kWp) in Karaj, Iran. The BGA outperformed conventional methods, achieving a 24.3% reduction in power losses and enhanced voltage stability.

Probabilistic Multi‐Objective Energy Management System Model for an Energy Hub With PtG Technology for Cost Reduction and System Flexibility Improvement

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Overview of the under‐study hub energy model showing the energy conversion and distribution among integrated sources and loads. ABSTRACT In this paper, a probabilistic bi‐objective energy management system (EMS) model is proposed for an energy hub (EH) equipped with renewable energy sources such as photovoltaic and wind turbine connected to the main ...

Analysis of an Integrated Photovoltaic Thermal System by Top Surface Natural Circulation of Water

open access: yesFrontiers in Energy Research, 2019
The performance of photovoltaic (PV) panel is extremely sensitive to its operating temperature. Most of the energy absorbed by the panel is wasted in the form of heat and provides no value.
