Abstract Microplastic input into the ocean represents an increasing threat to marine biota and may endanger the functioning of marine ecosystems, especially in semi‐enclosed basins, such as the Mediterranean Sea. The size spectrum of microplastics overlaps with that of nano‐microplankton (2–200 μm), thus potentially misleading suspension‐feeding ...

Degradation studies on plasticized PVC films submited to gamma radiation
Poly (vinyl chloride), PVC, is a rigid polymer and for several of its applications must be compounded with plasticizing agents. The plasticizers minimize the dipolar interactions, which exist between the polymer's chains, promoting their mobility.

Evaluation of Voids on Shrink PVC Film
Gravure is one of the most widely used processes for printing on shrink films, the reason being its consistency for longer runs. However, such printing is accompanied by new challenges. The presence of gels, black specks and other contaminations in these films does not allow the surrounding area to print, thus resulting in print void. The occurrence of

Feasibility Study of Basic Steel Slag as Anode of Li‐Ion Batteries
This study presents a low‐cost, eco‐friendly approach to utilize basic steel slag as a sustainable anode for lithium‐ion batteries, demonstrating good cyclic stability, rate capability, and long‐term electrochemical performance. ABSTRACT The elevated expenses and utilization of hazardous chemicals in traditional chemical synthesis of anode materials of

Quality and shelf life of packaged fresh sliced mushrooms stored at two different temperatures
The sensory and microbiological quality of sliced mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus L.) packaged in films of perforated and non-perforated PVC and stored at 3 and 9ºC, was studied. The carbon dioxide and oxygen content inside the packages, colour, weight loss,

Acoustic‐driven surface cleaning with millimeter‐sized bubbles at translational resonance
Time‐lapse visualization comparing bubble trajectories. The top panel (0 Hz) shows a bubble's linear path under no acoustic forcing, while the bottom panel (50 Hz) demonstrates the oscillatory motion induced by acoustic waves at a resonance mode. This mechanism holds promising potential for applications such as surface cleaning.

Consumer diversity drives stronger predation in tropical marine communities
Biotic interactions are predicted to be stronger in the tropics compared to higher latitudes, contributing to observed patterns of global biodiversity. While increased consumer diversity and more complex food webs are expected in tropical communities, the trophic dynamics underlying strong regional effects of predation are not well understood.
