Radiation grafting of MMA onto PVC films

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1990
AbstractAn approach to the problem of producing poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) graft copolymer exhibiting good mechanical properties and electrical resistance that suits its uses as an electrical insulator has been investigated. Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) onto PVC using γ‐radiation as initiator has been studied.

Annealing effect on cold drawing of PVC-films

Colloid and Polymer Science, 1982
Cold drawing of PVC-films at room temperature depends on thermal pretreatment. Yield stress, difference between yield and draw stress and neck temperature increase, when the samples have been annealed not far below glass transition temperature and subsequently quenched; they decrease by annealing aboveTg and quenching down to room temperature.

A New Pseudophotochromic Benzothiazoles Doped PVC Films

Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals Science and Technology. Section A. Molecular Crystals and Liquid Crystals, 1994
Abstract Under the influence of the UV light in 2-aryl substituted benzothiazoles doped PVC films take shapes, a new pseudophotochromic system. The coloured films were formed by two processes - the liberation of HCl during the photodegradation of PVC and an interaction between HCl and 2-arylsubstituted benzohiazoles (BT).

PVC film behavior under proton bombardment

Radiation Physics and Chemistry, 1995
Abstract Thin films of poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) were bombarded with protons of energies between 0.7 and 3 MeV, and the loss of mass was studied using back- and forward-scattering techniques. The abundances of chlorine, carbon and hydrogen were measured simultaneously during the bombardment.

Properties of rigid films made of PVC nanocomposites

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2016
PVC nanocomposites containing 0.5 wt. %/VCM of either nanosilica or hybrid core/shell type nanofiller were produced in-situ in suspension polymerisation and rigid films were prepared. The composites obtained were applied in the blends for rigid films. The properties of them were checked and showed advantageous differences in tear resistance and tensile

Surface analysis of poor printability PVC films

Journal of Vinyl and Additive Technology, 1999
Abstract Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) were employed to analyze the surfaces of PVC films with poor printability. FTIR indicated that, independent of formulation, the migrating species were metal carboxylates. Different techniques penetrate

Improved piezoelectricity in solvent-cast PVC films

IEEE Transactions on Dielectrics and Electrical Insulation, 1995
The piezoelectric coefficient of solvent cast polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films processed under simultaneous stretching and corona poling (SSCP) conditions has been enhanced by - 4x (d31 - 5.3 + 0.35 pC/N) as compared to the maximum value (0.5 to 1.3 pC/N) reported in the literature [l, 51.

Film thickness and pvc effects on color properties

Color Research & Application, 1995
AbstractPigment volume concentration (PVC) has very important effects on coating properties. This study explores the PVC effects on the color properties of the coatings. the color of the film is found to change according to the PVC changes even at a constant ratio of colored pigments to white pigments.

Optical properties of PVC/Al2O3 nanocomposite films

Polymer Bulletin, 2018
In this work, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) polymer films doped with 0, 2, 4, and 6 wt% Al2O3 nanoparticles with average size of 10 nm were prepared by solution casting route. Al2O3 nanoparticles are found to possess rhombohedral crystal structure, and PVC is partly crystallized as confirmed with XRD analysis.
