Evaluating UV/H 2 O 2 exposure as a DEHP degradation treatment for plasticized PVC [PDF]
Millions of tons of plasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC) materials are disposed every year. A biologically sustainable and green method for removal of toxic plasticizers from polymer systems after disposal is highly desired since plasticizers can leach

Charge‐Induced Morphing Gels for Bioinspired Actuation
This study introduces a novel electroactive actuation mechanism that enables the gel material to generate substantial and reversible shape‐changing while preserving topological and isochoric (volumetric) equivalence. The resultant morphing behaviors can mimic the movements of muscle‐driven organelles in nature, including cilia‐like beating and ...

Preparation of Gas Sensor Based on Polymer Nanocomposite for Qualitative Detection of Hydrogen Sulfide [PDF]
Hydrogen sulfide (H2S), a by-product often produced in petrochemical processes, is well known as a dangerous and highly toxic gas to living organisms. The smell of H2S concentration of higher than 100 ppm can cause severe biological condition. Therefore,

To enhance stability and long‐term biocompatibility of wearable microneedle sensors, a crosslinking‐recombination bovine serum albumin material is used as a buffer layer coated on microneedle sensors. This coating layer possesses a unique stiff‐to‐soft transition function balancing the mechanical stiffness desired for puncturing and soft required for ...

The Vegan Villain Sets Out to The End of Summer: Functionalized Coatings as Biohybrid UV‐Sensors
This study introduces biohybrid coatings incorporating E. coli biomass expressing photoconvertible fluorescent proteins as UV‐A responsive elements. Upon irradiation at 400 nm, the coatings exhibit an irreversible fluorescence shift from green to red within 15 min. Notably, the photoconversion capability is retained after >1 year of storage.

Biotreatment effects in films and blends of PVC/PCL previously treated with heat
Studies were carried out on biomodification and the pre-heat (130(0)C) influence on Poly (vinyl chloride) / Poly (epsilon-caprolactone) films. The results showed that heat pre-treatment improved the biomodification of PVC films, but it inhibited the ...
