Human hands sweat in different circumstances and the presence of sweat can alter the friction between the hand and contacting surface. It is, therefore, important to understand how hand moisture varies between people, during different activities and the ...

Directed Navigation of Magnetotactic Bacteria via Magnetotaxis in a 3D Vasculature‐On‐A‐Chip
A perfusable vascular network is developed to investigate MTB at the single‐microorganism level. MTB is demonstrated to successfully align and navigate along the magnetic field inside the microvessels. Abstract Magnetotactic bacteria (MTB), inherently motile and self‐powered, are promising biorobotic candidates for targeted anti‐cancer drug delivery ...

THE INFLUENCE OF RECIPE FORMULATION AND ELECTRIC FIELD FREQUENCY UPON DIELECTRIC LOSS IN PLASTIFIED PVC FILMS [PDF]
Plastified polyvinyl chloride (PVC) films are largely used in the clothing and footwear industries. The composition of the PVC-based blend and the curing stage determine the main characteristics of the final films.

Degradation studies on plasticized PVC films submited to gamma radiation
Poly (vinyl chloride), PVC, is a rigid polymer and for several of its applications must be compounded with plasticizing agents. The plasticizers minimize the dipolar interactions, which exist between the polymer's chains, promoting their mobility.

Technologies for restricting mould growth on baled silage [PDF]
End of project reportSilage is made on approximately 86% of Irish farms, and 85% of these make some baled silage. Baled silage is particularly important as the primary silage making, storage and feeding system on many beef and smaller sized farms, but is

Vat Photopolymerized HEMA/HEA Hydrogels for Solvent‐Responsive Transparency and Optical Encryption
Vat‐photopolymerized HEMA/HEA hydrogels exhibit reversible transparency‐opacity switching via hydration‐induced microphase separation and solvent exchange. The printed materials enable hydration sensing, optical encryption, and information storage, while maintaining high ductility and reversible rheology.

Development and analysis of PVC glass slides for urine microstructure studies
The long-term maintenance of urine precipitation microstructures stays a main restriction in medical laboratory education and routine urinalysis, as traditional glass sides typically permit sample stability for only 1–3 h. In this work, a novel polyvinyl

The post-yield fracture of a ductile polymer film: Notch quality, essential work of fracture, crack tip opening displacement, and J-integral [PDF]
Double edge notched tension (DENT) specimens of a polyethylene terephthalate (PET) film were tested in an universal testing machine, measuring the displacements and the ligament lengths with a digital image correlation (DIC) system.

A flexible liquid‐crystalline electrolyte membrane via in situ photopolymerization of a phosphate‐functionalized mesogen, ionic liquid, and diacrylate monomer is developed. The resulting smectic B (SmB)‐phase structure enables 2D ion transport with high conductivity (10−4 S cm−1).
