We generate hafnium nanostructures by first depositing polystyrene particles of varying diameter followed by physical vapour deposition of hafnium thin films. The resultant structure shows a kill‐on‐contact effect against both Gram‐negative Escherichia coli and Gram‐positive Staphylococcus aureus.

Thermal Fatigue Life Evaluation of EB-PVD TBC Using Newly Developed Small-scale Burner Rig [PDF]
In this study, the effect of flow rate ratio (R) and total flow rate (Q) on the surface temperature of thermal barrier coatings (TBC) was investigated using a newly developed small-scale methane-oxygen burner rig.

Large size (∼100 µm) monolayer MoS2 grown by LPI‐CVD on n‐GaN exhibit a high n‐type doping, very low strain, and a type‐I band alignment at MoS2/GaN interface. Photocurrent measurements under illumination with photon energies from ∼2 to ∼5 eV show superior electro‐optical performances of these MoS2/n‐GaN heterojunctions as compared to Ni/n‐GaN devices ...

Effect of modification by Pt and manufacturing processes on the microstructure of two NiCoCrAlYTa bond coatings intended for thermal barrier system applications [PDF]
Few studies have already shown that Pt influences the diffusion of aluminium and therefore the microstructure of β-NiAl or γ-Ni/γ′-Ni3Al materials. Besides, several works have revealed that the addition of Pt to MCrAlY (M = Ni and/or Co) improves the ...

Development of an Alternative Alloying Concept for Additive Manufacturing Using PVD Coating
New alloys are needed to adapt the material properties and to improve the weldability of arc-based additive manufacturing processes. The classic development of welding filler materials is time-consuming and cost-intensive. For this reason, an alternative

Beneficial Effect of Pt and of Pre-Oxidation on the Oxidation Behaviour of an NiCoCrAlYTa Bond-Coating for Thermal Barrier Coating Systems [PDF]
The oxidation behaviour of a thermal barrier coating (TBC) system is a major concern as the growth of the thermally grown oxide (TGO) layer on the bondcoating creates stresses that greatly favour the thermal barrier spallation.
