The slow de-implementation of non-evidence-based treatments in low back pain hospital care-Trends in treatments using Dutch hospital register data from 1991 to 2018. [PDF]
Abstract Background Low back pain (LBP) is the leading cause of disability worldwide and has an excessive societal burden. Accumulating evidence has shown that some medical approaches such as imaging in absence of clear indications, medication and some invasive treatments may contribute to the problem rather than alleviating it. Objectives To determine

Indoleamine 2,3-dioxygenase (IDO)-1 and IDO-2 activity and severe course of COVID-19. [PDF]
Abstract COVID‐19 is a pandemic with high morbidity and mortality. In an autopsy cohort of COVID‐19 patients, we found extensive accumulation of the tryptophan degradation products 3‐hydroxy‐anthranilic acid and quinolinic acid in the lungs, heart, and brain.

In vitro and in vivo investigation of the biological action of xylooligosaccharides derived from industrial waste. [PDF]
The study revealed that xylooligosaccharides (XOS) derived from Mongolian food manufacturing by‐products such as wheat bran and brewer's grain promoted good gut bacteria and protect intestinal mucus. It demonstrated that XOS concentration promoted bacterial growth, particularly in Bifidobacterium spp. and Akkermansia. muciniphila.

Inkjet‐Printed Microlenses Integrated onto Organic Photodiodes for Highly Accurate Proximity Sensing
Printed microlenses are integrated onto organic photodiodes to enable the focus induced photoresponse effect for optical proximity measurements. By comparing the photocurrent ratio of a device with and without microlenses, absolute proximity measurements in the range of 100 μm–4 mm and an accuracy of down to ±50 μm within three standard deviations (3σ)

ONC201 can effectively overcome chemoresistance in both high‐grade and low‐grade ovarian cancer cells by blocking pro‐survival pathways and inducing the apoptotic arm of the UPR. A weekly oral dose of ONC201 lowers the tumor burden in mice. This is a promising therapeutic agent in OVCA treatment and might consider for clinical translation.

A Covalent Triazine Framework for Photocatalytic Anti‐Markovnikov Hydrofunctionalizations
Anti‐Markovnikov hydro‐functionalization of alkenes is essential for synthesizing natural products, medicinally relevant compounds, and other important molecules. In this context, photocatalysis has emerged as a crucial tool for these reactions. However, existing methods rely on either expensive, or scarce metal photocatalysts, rendering this strategy ...

Involvement of NF‐κB/IL‐6 Pathway in the Processing of Colorectal Carcinogenesis in Colitis Mice
Nuclear factor‐kappaB (NF‐κB)/interleukin (IL‐6) pathway links chronic inflammation to colitis associated cancer (CAC). In this study, we examined the dynamic temporal changes of the NF‐κB/IL‐6 pathway during the procession of experimental CAC mouse model.
