The plasmid pVGI.1(VEGF2) contains 5283 base pairs and encodes the full length cDNA of the VEGF-2 gene. Preclinical studies and earlier clinical trials demonstrated that injecting the pVGI.1(VEGF2) directly into muscles provided therapeutic angiogenic effects both in the heart (CAD) and in the limb (PAD).
