Optimal surplus harmonic energy distribution [in PWM invertors]

IECON '98. Proceedings of the 24th Annual Conference of the IEEE Industrial Electronics Society (Cat. No.98CH36200), 2002
A new optimal programmed PWM technique is described. The voltage total harmonic distortion at the output of an L-C filter connected to a PWM inverter is minimized. The proposed technique can be directly applied to constant frequency, constant amplitude sinusoidal power supplies such as uninterruptible power supplies.

Comprehensive study on space-vector-PWM and carrier-based-PWM correlation in multilevel invertors

IEE Proceedings - Electric Power Applications, 2006
The paper presents a theoretical analysis of the correlation between carrier-based unipolar PWM (CPWM) and space-vector PWM (SVPWM) for the entire modulation-index range of multilevel invertors, including overmodulation. By presenting corresponding parameters of vector redundancies in a zero-sequence function, the carrier-based PWM has matched the ...

Improved spectral performance of random PWM schemes with altered chaotic behavior [for PWM invertors]

PESC97. Record 28th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Formerly Power Conditioning Specialists Conference 1970-71. Power Processing and Electronic Specialists Conference 1972, 2002
The authors present a statistical approach to the analysis of random PWM (RPWM) methods, for use in DC/AC power conversion, which generate PWM signals by comparing a reference modulating function with random numbers or signals. Such an approach is used to analyse and optimise a new weighted RPWM (WRPWM) method and also a standard trapezoidal RPWM ...

FPGA implementation of PWM pattern generators [for PWM invertors]

Canadian Conference on Electrical and Computer Engineering 2001. Conference Proceedings (Cat. No.01TH8555), 2002
Pulse width modulation is used in power converters to modulate a reference signal into gating pulses for IGBT switches. This conversion can be carried out using analog circuits or digital circuits, such as DSPs and microcontrollers. A more efficient and faster solution is the use of field programmable gate arrays (FPGA).

A new space vector modulation strategy for common mode voltage reduction [in PWM invertors]

PESC97. Record 28th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Formerly Power Conditioning Specialists Conference 1970-71. Power Processing and Electronic Specialists Conference 1972, 2002
In this paper, the impact of the inverter modulation strategy on common mode conducted emissions is addressed. Whereas typically passive filter designs are used to mitigate the common mode current produced by the inverter, active filtering is proven to greatly reduce common mode conducted emissions due to the modulation of the power converter.

Incorporating the overmodulation range in space vector pattern generators using a classification algorithm [PWM invertors]

PESC97. Record 28th Annual IEEE Power Electronics Specialists Conference. Formerly Power Conditioning Specialists Conference 1970-71. Power Processing and Electronic Specialists Conference 1972, 2002
Operating voltage pulse width modulated (PWM) inverters in the overmodulation region extends their voltage and power range and improves their dynamic performance. This paper is a contribution to the extension of the operating range of the classification algorithm for the implementation of space vector modulation (SVM) in the pulse dropping region.

A novel three-phase pulse width modulation (PWM) technique based on co-related references [invertor applications]

TELESCON 2000. Third International Telecommunications Energy Special Conference (IEEE Cat. No.00EX424), 2002
This paper presents a novel PWM control scheme for three phase inverters. Compared to the traditional carrier based PWM control scheme, the new strategy is able to reduce the power semiconductors' switching frequency to 66.7%, and to increase the amplitude of the inverter output voltages to 115.47%.

A three-phase PWM strategy using a stepped reference waveform (invertor drives)

IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications, 1991
The theoretical derivation of a carrier-based three phase pulse-width-modulated (PWM) technique for invertor drives using a stepped reference waveform is presented. The reference waveform is divided into 30 degrees intervals, with each interval being controlled individually to control the magnitude of the fundamental harmonic.

Computationally effective algebraizated method of feedforward synchronous PWM [invertor applications]

COMPEL 2000. 7th Workshop on Computers in Power Electronics. Proceedings (Cat. No.00TH8535), 2002
The paper describes developed version of novel frequency-oriented methodology of direct pulse width modulation (PWM) of line-to-line output voltage of three-phase voltage source drive inverters, based on special piece-wise approximation of the function of active switching states from their position inside clock intervals.
