Incore reactor noise measurements at PWR's of VVER type and their interpretation

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 1985
Abstract A short review is given about applications of noise analysis for incore water flow velocity measurement, interpretation of data about fuel assembly vibrations and pressure fluctuation measurement. Possible applications are discussed shortly.

An Adaptive Gain Scheduled PID Controller for PWR type of Nuclear Reactor

2017 International Conference on Innovations in Control, Communication and Information Systems (ICICCI), 2017
In this paper a strategy for an adaptive gain scheduled PID controller is proposed for PWR type of Nuclear reactor. Nuclear reactors are highly nonlinear in nature. The proportion of Pressurized Water Reactor is beyond 60% of the total Nuclear reactor components, since PWRs are the most desirable reactors for producing nuclear power.

Numerical Investigation of Flow Diffuser Optimization for a PWR Reactor With Code_Saturne: Analysis on EPR Type Reactor

Volume 3: Thermal-Hydraulics, 2016
In order to provide scientific basis for new reactor design in terms of optimal Flow Diffuser, a study was launched on the analysis and investigation on flow distribution of existing flow diffuser design of five different reactors including EPR, VVER, Konvoi, APR+ and Westinghouse. The strategy is to change each time only the flow diffuser within the 1/

Correlation between grain boundary strength determined by impact test of miniature specimen and stress corrosion cracking resistance of irradiated austenitic steels used for the internals of WWER-type and PWR-type nuclear reactors

Engineering Failure Analysis, 2021
Abstract Austenitic chromium-nickel 321, 316 and 304 stainless steels used for internals of PWR (pressurized water reactor) and WWER (water-water energetic reactor) reactors were irradiated to 4–125 dpa in different neutron energy spectra and investigated by impact bending tests of miniature specimens.

Service Properties of Reactor Structural Steels and Prediction of NPP Equipment Life With PWR-Type Reactors

Journal of Pressure Vessel Technology, 1991
The results obtained from the experimental investigation of Cr-Ni-Mo-V and Mn-Ni-Mo-V steel service properties used in the USSR reactor building, as well as the static crack resistance KIC versus reference temperature dependence and Paris kinetic diagrams of fatigue crack growth rate in air and water of high parameters, are given.

Comparison of the error-integral performance indexes in a GA-tuned PID controlling system of a PWR-type nuclear reactor point-kinetics model

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 2021
Abstract The control of a nuclear power plant is important due to its nonlinear dynamics. An optimized proportional–integral–derivative (PID) controller is a popular tool to this end. PID is tuned by various methods, including a genetic algorithm (GA). The quality and speed of GA optimization depend on the objective function as the performance index.

Robust tuned PID controller with PSO based on two-point kinetic model and adaptive disturbance rejection for a PWR-type reactor

Progress in Nuclear Energy, 2019
Abstract Nonlinear systems such as nuclear reactor dynamics are associated with parametric uncertainties and stability conditions. These properties must be taken into account in controller design. In this paper, an effective and robust Proportional–Integral–Derivative (PID) controller is designed and tuned.

Transuranium Elements Transmutation in VVER and PWR Type of Reactors

Proceedings of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences
The expected renaissance of nuclear energy production puts the now postponed decision on long-term spent nuclear fuel handling on focus. In case of tripling the currently existing nuclear power generation of the countries that signed the relevant declaration on COP-28, Bulgaria among them, the high level radioactive elements of the spent nuclear fuel ...

Study on the reactor core barrel instantaneous characteristics in case of Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) scenarios for loop-type PWR

Nuclear Engineering and Design, 2017
Abstract The asymmetric pressure wave caused by Loss of Coolant Accident (LOCA) transients in multi-loop type Pressurized Water Reactor (PWR) leads to great shock to the reactor core barrel. The instantaneous shock causes severe damage to the reactor vessel structure integrity.
