Abstract Central arterial stiffening, particularly of the proximal aorta, is increasingly recognised as a pivotal contributor to cardiovascular disease, dementia, and mild cognitive impairment. Loss of Windkessel function amplifies pulsatile pressure, reduces diastolic perfusion and accelerates microvascular damage in the brain.

Background: Pulse wave velocity (PWV), measure of aortic stiffness, is predictive of cardiovascular events. PWV is strongly related to age and blood pressure but its relation to other risk factors and presence of calcification is unclear.

Abstract Sedentary behaviour is an independent risk factor for cardiovascular disease. In healthy adults, prolonged uninterrupted sitting acutely increases blood pressure (BP) and aortic stiffness; however, these effects can be mitigated with light physical activity interruptions.

2.5 AORTIC-BRACHIAL STIFFNESS MISMATCH AND MORTALITY IN DIALYSIS PATIENTS
Objective. We have shown that regression of brachial stiffness is inversely related to aortic stiffness in dialysis patients. In this study, we sequentially examine the impact of aortic stiffness, brachial stiffness and aortic-brachial stiffness mismatch

Planet gaps in the dust layer of 3D protoplanetary disks. II. Observability with ALMA [PDF]
[Abridged] Aims: We provide predictions for ALMA observations of planet gaps that account for the specific spatial distribution of dust that results from consistent gas+dust dynamics.

Abstract The clinical assessment of cardiovascular function during exercise using stress echocardiography is essential for accurate cardiac diagnosis. However, normal limitations of cardiac deformation responses to increasing physical exertion remain poorly understood.

Development of time-varying global gridded Ts–Tm model for precise GPS–PWV retrieval
. Water-vapor-weighted mean temperature, Tm, is the key variable for estimating the mapping factor between GPS zenith wet delay (ZWD) and precipitable water vapor (PWV). For the near-real-time GPS–PWV retrieval, estimating Tm from surface air temperature

Millimetric Astronomy from the High Antarctic Plateau: site testing at Dome C [PDF]
Preliminary site testing at Dome C (Antarctica) is presented, using both Automatic Weather Station (AWS) meteorological data (1986-1993) and Precipitable Water Vapor (PWV) measurements made by the authors.

Abstract figure legend We proposed a computational constitutive modelling framework that leverages longitudinal acquisitions of haemodynamic waveforms at multiple arterial locations to achieve a biomechanical characterisation of their (micro)structural remodelling processes.
