Pyelography should start with a technically adequate preinjection film. The density and duration of the excretory nephrogram are directly related to the amount of contrast material injected. Tomography will visualize areas of interest when ordinary pyelograms would be of poor quality.

Retrograde Pyelogram Using the Flexible Cystoscope

A retrograde pyelogram was performed on 2 men with the flexible choledochonephroscope and a 5F whistle-tip ureteral catheter. The procedure was done on an outpatient basis with topical anesthesia and patient tolerance was good. The technique is simple and is a useful alternative to the classical rigid cystoscopic technique.

DEFORMITIES IN PYELOGRAMS

Pyelograms have been made and studied in such a vast number of cases that the ordinary variations of the normal pelvis are fairly familiar to all. Abnormal pyelograms have been studied and classified, so that from these alone a fair assumption as to the pathologic conditions in a given case may be made.
