Trinidad Pygmy Grasshopper (Tettigidea trinitatis)
The Trinidad Pygmy Grasshopper (Tettigidea trinitatis) has originally been described from Trinidad. A later record from Cuba is doubtful. The type material of this species needs to be studied to clarify the taxonomic status of this species. Due to the lack of information regarding its validity as well as distribution, ecology and threats, it is ...

Higher establishment success in more diverse groups of pygmy grasshoppers under seminatural conditions [PDF]
Large founder groups and habitat match have been shown to increase the establishment success of reintroduced populations. Theory posits that the diversity of founder groups should also be important, but this has rarely been investigated. Here, experimental introductions of color‐polymorphic Tetrix subulata pygmy grasshoppers into outdoor enclosures ...

Camel Pygmy Grasshopper (Cyphotettix camelus)
The Camel Pygmy Grasshopper is distributed in the Southwest of Western Australia, where it inhabits open sandy patches. The species has rarely been documented, which might be caused by its good camouflage. It might be impacted by the increasing lengths of droughts that have been documented in this region, but there is a need for more research into the ...

Role of body size and shape in animal camouflage
In this review, we analyzed the research on the impact of animal body size and shape on their camouflage and outlined existing research issues and challenges. Overall, we found a negative correlation between body size and the effectiveness of disruptive coloration and background matching as camouflage strategies.

The effect of micro‐level and macro‐level signalling on learning with 360° videos
Abstract 360° videos raised the attention of educators, as they can mediate complex environments in educational settings. However, learning irrelevant cognitive strains might be imposed because it is necessary to navigate through spherical material. These downsides could be compensated by using signalling techniques. In a two (macro‐level vs.

The grassy ecosystems of Madagascar in context: Ecology, evolution, and conservation
Madagascar is famous for its unique forests and their fauna. Most of the island is covered by flammable grassy ecosystems long considered to be of human origin and threatening the remaining forests. Yet new studies show that many plants and animals of the grassy systems are unique to Madagascar and restricted to these open habitats.

Study of the Acute Toxicity of Scorpion Leiurus macroctenus Venom in Rats
Background. The expansion of the territory of human habitation leads to inevitable interference in the natural range of distribution of one or another species of animals, some of which may be dangerous for human life. Scorpions—the Arachnida class and order Scorpiones—can be considered as such typical representatives.

Color polymorphisms in animals may result from genetic polymorphisms, developmental plasticity, or a combination where some phenotypic components are under strong genetic control and other aspects are influenced by developmental plasticity. Understanding how color polymorphisms evolve demands knowledge of how genetic and epigenetic environmental cues ...
