Cryptic colouration is an adaptative mechanism against predation. In a computer experiment, we analysed the cryptic effectiveness of male and female colour patterns of Sphenarium zapotecum (Orthoptera: Pyrogomorphidae) grasshoppers. Males were most disruptive and females had higher background matching.
