Mathematical Modeling of Transport and Degradation of Feedstuffs in the Small Intestine [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
We describe a mathematical modeling of the digestion in the small intestine. The main interest of our work is to consider, at the same time, different aspects of the digestion i.e.

Onion‐Mitochondria Inhibit Lipopolysaccharide‐Induced Acute Lung Injury by Shaping Lung Macrophage Mitochondrial Function

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Proposed model of orally administered onion mitochondria (O‐Mit) uptake by lung macrophages and fuse with macrophage mitochondria (M‐Mit). This fusion reprograms the metabolism of dysfunctional M‐Mit in lipopolysaccharide‐induced murine acute lung injury by modulating dynamin‐related protein 1 (DRP1) phosphorylation and cardiolipin peroxidation ...

Gastroduodenal resistance and neural mechanisms involved in saline flow decrease elicited by acute blood volume expansion in anesthetized rats

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research, 1997
We have previously demonstrated that blood volume (BV) expansion decreases saline flow through the gastroduodenal (GD) segment in anesthetized rats (Xavier-Neto J, dos Santos AA & Rola FH (1990) Gut, 31: 1006-1010). The present study attempts to identify

The Bacterium Frischella perrara Causes Scab Formation in the Gut of its Honeybee Host. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
UNLABELLED: Honeybees harbor well-defined bacterial communities in their guts. The major members of these communities appear to benefit the host, but little is known about how they interact with the host and specifically how they interface with the host ...

T2T Genomes Unveil Centromere Architecture and Adaptive Divergence in Large Yellow Croaker (Larimichthys crocea)

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study presents telomere‐to‐telomere genome assemblies for two populations of Larimichthys crocea. We identified centromere‐specific tandem repeats invaded by LTR/ERV1 retrotransposons, unique 5S rRNA enrichment patterns, and population‐specific structural variants. Comparative genomic analyses further reveal distinct adaptive mechanisms in the MYD

Intramural pure pigment gallstones, a case report [PDF]

open access: yes, 1963
A case of intramural pure pigment gallstones, which were fortuitously found in post-mortem examination, is presented. The incidence, mechanism of formation of the stones and roentgenological diagnosis of the intramural gallstones, porcelain gall bladder,

Nortriptyline Inhibits Lysosomal Exocytosis‐Mediated SASP During Gastric Cancer Progression via Targeting HOXA1‐PITX2 Phase Separation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies that HOXA1 facilitates transcriptional activity of PITX2 in liquid condensates, resulting in up‐regulation of MCOLN1 and RAB3A followed by lysosomal exocytosis of LGALS1 and IGFBP7 from senescent cells, thus activating AKT signaling and EMT.

Zoological results of a tour in the far east : Polyzoa Entoprocta and Ctenostomata [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The Polyzoa discussed or described in this paper are all from fresh or brackish water. The majority are from the Tale Sap in the north-eastern part of the Malay Peninsula} but a few come from the Tai-Hu in the Kiangsu Province of China.
