Control of pyrethroid-resistant Anopheles gambiae and Culex quinquefasciatus mosquitoes with chlorfenapyr in Benin.

open access: yes, 2009
OBJECTIVE: To compare the efficacy of chlorfenapyr applied on mosquito nets and as an indoor residual spray against populations of Anopheles gambiae and Culex quinquefasciatus in an area of Benin that shows problematic levels of pyrethroid resistance ...

The activity of the pyrrole insecticide chlorfenapyr in mosquito bioassay: towards a more rational testing and screening of non-neurotoxic insecticides for malaria vector control. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
BACKGROUND: The rapid selection of pyrethroid resistance throughout sub-Saharan Africa is a serious threat to malaria vector control. Chlorfenapyr is a pyrrole insecticide which shows no cross resistance to insecticide classes normally used for vector ...

SYN‐A, a naturally derived synergist, restores pyrethroid efficacy against cabbage stem flea beetle but negatively impacts its parasitoid Microctonus brassicae

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
SYN‐A, a naturally derived synergist, inhibited key metabolic pathways associated with pyrethroid insecticide resistance in cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB) and its parasitoid Microctonus brassicae. SYN‐A restored pyrethroid efficacy against resistant CSFB allowing up to 80% reduction in application rates.

Pyrethroid resistance in Anopheles gambiae, in Bomi County, Liberia, compromises malaria vector control. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND: Long Lasting Insecticidal Nets (LLIN) and Indoor Residual Spraying (IRS) have both proven to be effective malaria vector control strategies in Africa and the new technology of insecticide treated durable wall lining (DL) is being evaluated ...

Synergistic Degradation of Pyrethroids by the Quorum Sensing-Regulated Carboxylesterase of Bacillus subtilis BSF01

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioengineering and Biotechnology, 2020
The well-studied quorum sensing (QS) mechanism has established a complex knowledge system of how microorganisms behave collectively in natural ecosystems, which contributes to bridging the gap between the ecological functions of microbial communities and

Synthetic polymer nanocarrier enhances dsRNA stability but not RNAi efficacy in Brassicogethes aeneus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Experimental setup for dsRNA feeding in Brassicogethes aeneus to evaluate the effect of a synthetic polymer nanocarrier on RNAi efficiency. The experiment assessed whether the nanocarrier enhances RNAi after oral dsRNA delivery. (a) Stability of dsRNA–nanocarrier complexes was tested in simulated gut conditions. (b) Gene expression of αCOP and dre4 was

Reasoned opinion on the review of the existing maximum residue levels (MRLs) for lambda-cyhalothrin according to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005 [PDF]

open access: yesEFSA Journal, 2014
According to Article 12 of Regulation (EC) No 396/2005, the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has reviewed the Maximum Residue Levels (MRLs) currently established at European level for the pesticide active substance lambda-cyhalothrin.

Effects of bioinsecticide exposure route on aphids and their natural enemies in oilseed rape

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
Fatty acids, silicone polymers and surfactants reduced aphid numbers but caused natural enemy mortality under direct exposure, while minimal residual activity suggests potential for targeted, compatible use in integrated pest management. Abstract BACKGROUND Myzus persicae Sulzer and Brevicoryne brassicae L.

Simultaneous Determination of Pyrethrins, Pyrethroids, and Piperonyl Butoxide in Animal Feeds by Liquid Chromatography-Tandem Mass Spectrometry

open access: yesToxins, 2023
The presence of insecticides like pyrethrins and synthetic pyrethroids, combined with the synergist piperonyl butoxide, in animal feeds can pose a risk to both animal and human health by contaminating the food chain.

Seedling resistance and chemical defenses against Psylliodes chrysocephala: the roles of seed age and sinapinic acid in Sinapis alba and Brassica napus

open access: yesPest Management Science, EarlyView.
The cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) is a major pest of winter oilseed rape (Brassica napus). We tested B. napus and Sinapis alba seedlings for feeding resistance and underlying chemical defenses. S. alba was least damaged, while metabolite profiles revealed resistance‐linked compounds, highlighting breeding potential for insect ...
